Question Running into costumers outside the club

I went to a festival in the same town I work in, but do not live in. As soon as I got there I ran into a regular who has been offering me money to have sex with him, and often tells me he just can't stop thinking about me. I was with a friend who I am not out to so I really wanted to avoid him, or anyone SC related. He, however, started following me around and kept trying to make eye contact with me. Luckily, I redirected my friend and I didn't see him again.
Later I also ran into a group of people I did a show for a couple nights ago, and a costumer who I frequently call the front desk on for harassing the booth girls for free shows (he was with his gf, haha).
I was there for less than two hours and ran into FOUR costumers! Damn!

How do you handle running into costumers outside of the club? Esp. creepy ones like my regular, who don't seem to understand that I'm another girl outside of the club?

^^^ obviously we're talking about a fairly small city here if you managed to be 'recognized' by four different recent club customers in the same afternoon.

The way I used to handle such situations is to not let them develop so easily. In my own case, I made it a point never to dance in the same immediate area where I was residing ... which you have also done. I also made it a point to never go shopping, to never regularly utilize a doctor / dentist, to never attend major events etc. in the city where the club I worked at was located ... which is where your problem developed.

When living and working in large cities, the probability of running into club customers is reduced simply because of the population factor so you don't have to 'isolate' your private life activities so much. However, there is always the chance that it will happen. To further minimize the probability, I always dressed down when out doing 'normal life' things in public. I also made it a point to wear my hair differently, and to wear different ( or no ) makeup. This way if a chance meeting with a club customer should happen, if you don't acknowledge the customer it creates a doubt in their mind as to whether you're really the same girl or not. Of course in my own case the doubt factor stopped working when my cup size grew into the second half of the alphabet !

If you do manage to be recognized by a club customer, and you do acknowledge them, then there isn't much that can be done from that point forward. The best that can be accomplished in the way of 'damage control' is to have a short discussion with that customer about your desire for 'privacy' the next time you see them in the club.

I ran into a guy who kept trying to get me to have sex with him. It was at a state fair and he was with his wife and kids. I didn't have to avoid him. You would have thought I had the plauge or something LOL!

This may or may not help you, but I always give out my work name to creepy guys who ask me my name OTC. Maybe If something happens where they say your work name, you can explain to your friend that you give a fake name to creepers...?

I told my mom that, and it saved my ASS in a terrible situation. One of my regs (in NYC... what are the chances, really???) saw me OTC and said "Hey Casey, I haven't seen you around the club lately!" Awkwardddd! Ha. I told my mom I used to go out to a bar/club with my friends and he was stalking me so I gave him a fake name so he couldn't find me and never went back. Worked like a charm.

I also used to teach a self defense class for women and we always taught them to not give their real name if they were getting a bad vibe from a guy trying to hit on them. So it's real thing... Hope that helps a little/at all.

To clarify, I was in Seattle, which isn't that small. And only one costumer recognized me, who happened to be a regular. I was also just visiting in Seattle, I do not live there, I live MUCH further away.
After he saw me I put up my hair (I always wear it down at work). However, I was wearing different makeup and I put in my piercings that I keep out for work. But I guess since he's a regular he's a bit more used to my face.
If I see him soon I'll tell him that my friend didn't know that I'm a dancer and I wouldn't want her to know about all the dirty things we talk about.

CaseyLace: Great idea. It would totally work. You're awesome.

I have to agree with everyone who said they don't live near the club. Most of my dancing career was me commuting up to an hour and a half away because of this. I am considering moving back to an area near a club I worked at (long defunct) but I danced so long ago at this club, and it's long gone that I doubt anyone would remember me.

Ohhhh man oh man. I haven't ran into anyone yet from my club.

If I did I'd be so damned mortified. I wouldn't know what to do....

I ran into a customer on the street in the town I live in (which is about an hour away from the city I dance in). He smiled at me, but I don't think he recognized me *phew* I wasn't wearing any makeup and my hair looked nasty, so hopefully that helped.

this used to happen to me all the time. i treat them the same way i treat any strangers. ignore them.

but i am kind of like...in my own world when i'm out and about, so this works for me, and i could see it not working as well for someone with a different personality.

I never ever ever wear makeup in my day-to-day routines, and even if I do, it's extremely light. I also don't give two shits about how my hair looks so long as it's brushed, wear comfy clothing but nothing ever terribly revealing.

Inside the club, I wear makeup fairly heavy, especially around my eyes (I have terrible schoolgirl eye bags. Thank the fuckin lord for club lights and makeup). I also straighten my hair.

I've ran into several, and I mean SEVERAL, customers OTC in my day-to-day, and even one or two dancers. Not a single one recognized me when they saw me.

If you're terribly worried, try making sure your appearance ITC and OTC isn't terribly similar.

I do make my appearance different. I don't wear much makeup outside the club. I was wearing a nude pink eyeshadow and mascara. In the club I wear a dark purple and lots of eyeliner, fake eyelashes, bronzer, lipstick, everything. However, my hair was the same. I know from now on I need to put it up if I'm in Seattle.

Again, I don't live near the club. I was visiting for a day with a friend. I wouldn't work somewhere I live, and I commute is 1-2 hours away. But thanks for the advice!

I think the dancers at my club might be more recognizable because we have a very well lit club. All of it is, not just the stage. And since it's a landmark, we get all kinds of people in, tourists, customers, and random Seattlites. I talked to some girls I work with they say it happens often, most of the time the costumers are just not used to seeing us behind glass so they're not stalking us as much as trying to see if it's really us.

Ick. I wear sunglasses, everywhere! I started doing that when I had a normal 9-5 which required me to be somewhat of a public person in town, and I didn't always feel like "engaging," and I found the habit has carried over now that I strip.

It happened to me once, and I didn't make a big deal out of it, and neither did he. Even if walking in/out of work customers try to talk to me, I ignore them. Unless I'm AT work, IN my outfit, and getting paid to be talking to them..then it's not happening. But thats just me.

I hope when I run into someone from the club they are there with their wife and kids. Prevents them from coming up to me, and gives me the upper hand, so they know I could screw them over if they messed with me ;P
