    Default Trends

Whenever I return to dancing from one of my year-long + sabbaticals, I'm always interested to see what trends have sprung up since I last left. For instance, I remember investing a large amount of money in a new kind of hair straightener- it turned out to be WELL worth the investment. Girls oohed and ahhed over it at work, and everyone wanted to use it (i obliged of course ^_^) Now the "Chi" and others like it are EVERYWHERE, EVERYone has one and it's almost unthinkable to use the flat irons we used when I first started dancing...have you guys noticed this in your clubs?

Also, speaking of individual clubs, I've noticed that trends can sometimes spring up only among those working at a particular club. For example, when I came back, everyone had outfits that had big plastic gems glued on. Turns out the outfit lady who frequented the place made them, so that's why they were so big in my own club. Have you guys experienced similar things inherent to only your club?

Cocaine is the drug du jour I've noticed, along with stilettos that are shaped like revolvers.
Funny how coke is in fashion one minute, passe the next.

One trend I wish would die.....

Cotton Candy body spray....barf. I know I am in the minority of people that hate that shit cause everyone seems to love it but me...Every time someone sprays that shit I want to hurl.

I have also noticed a trend with body sprays that smell like food.....sweet food like cupcakes and sugar cookies and shit. I can't stand any of it. If I smell that crap being sprayed I will stay out of the DR till it dissapates.

Again I know I am one of very few who hate these so I don't expect anyone to agree with me.....but I just had to vent a little!

I've also noticed a few other outfit trends, but they are hard to describe. Some interesting contraptions indeed.

For a while, some girls were rocking those elastic leg straps that criss cross around and up your legs. I never got into them though, I was too scared they would cut off my circulation or something. I remember seeing girls in the dressing room at the end of shift and they would have the red indents from the elastic.

For me it seems different areas and different clubs have different trends.

My home club in GA it was all about leg warmers, micro thongs, side-tie bikinis/shorts with the loooong tails, elastic leg thingies and neon colors. Oh also slingshots came back big time there.

Here and now it's all about glam and looking expensive. Rhinestones, shiny materials, one pieces/gowns, etc. Our outfit guy also has some killer shoes I've never seen anyone wear.

For the last few years - leg warmers. I actually REALLY dislike seeing dancers in them... not sexy IMO & flat out remind me of dance classes. I was thrilled to see this year that some clubs have started to ban them.

I wore them when I first started. Then I quickly learned that pole tricks are way harder to learn in them. I've completely redone my look since I first started dancing though.

I'm more likely to wear bikinis and neon and leg stuff in dive bars since it's more the norm. I woldn't dare wear legwarmers at my current club, and booty shorts/bikinis are banned.

I blame the leg warmer phenom on the 1980s comeback.

Oh yeah the T back and top thing is big here. Many clubs ban it. I don't like it and I'm sure it would hurt money.

girls at my club are wearing what I like to call legwarmers on crack, or abominable snowman boots...
Huge white (or other colors) super furry boots. They pretty much cover the whole area of the knee to over the heels.. I think they are so hideous... But to each their own.

One piece outfits are popular as well.
    Bra/Panties are popular. Lingerie types.

The furry boots are borrowed from go-go dancers. I think they're cute but not comfy for pole work!

Everyone at my club has currently got a 'cut a tank top into a shirt/skirt' fetish going on.
Unfortunately... MOST of them look like shit. D:

Black thigh high stockings. One girl started the trend and others have jumped in. It looks sexy, but it's not for me. It wouldn't go with any of my clothes or shoes, plus my legs have built up a pretty good tolerance to pole bruises. I think avoiding bruises are why a lot of girls will cover their legs up.

I once worked at a dive where I wore glitter under my eyes and everyone else jumped on the bandwagon. Can't have nothin!!

I used to wear wigs before I started getting extensions. Several white girls have jumped on the wig thing (blatantly) after I got mine.

Back home the slashed up booty shorts are big. A lot of girls are also wear slashed up thigh pieces (spandex lookin like bicycle shorts without the ass.) It's not really sexy. That and making capris out of fishnets.
