    Arrow Juicing Recipes

Have we discussed this before? I didn't see anything..... I wanted to see what you ladies throw in your juicer! I just really started using mine, and I have been drinking a green drink each day this week! I am looking for an organic farmers market type co-op that could deliver fresh vegetables to my door each work, since I'm going through a ridiculous amount right now, but I am not having much luck, so I guess I will have to continue to make frequent trips to Whole Foods for now. Today I drank....

    Kale (about 5 stalks/leaves)
    Romaine (half a head)
    Red Kale (5 stalks/leaves)
    Collard greens (a few stalks)
    Parsley (a handful)
Beets (3, with the green leaves attached to the top)
    Carrots (3)
    Celery (about 6 stalks)
    Spinach (a couple handfuls)
    Aparagus (about 10 stalks)
    Green Beans (one small bag)
    Broccoli (one small bag)

I think that was it today, but I usually throw in some ginger root, an apple, and a whole lemon. I am thinking about adding some Spirulina and Chlorella powder to my drink every day, along with a raw egg or two, what do you guys think? Any other good recipes out there, or things to add in?

    I really like fruity juices.

My favorite is apple, kale and ginger.

Lemon, fennel and apple is good too, same with fennel and grape.

Fresh turmeric is awesome. The curcumin in it crosses the blood brain barrier.

Wow, I saw fennel but didn't even think about buying it to juice.... I'll have to try that

You Know Me (a member on here) hooked me up with it, it's a commercial juicer, meaning it's like hardcore, made for restaurants to use. I love it!

Ok, so what's the verdict on raw egg whites in the juice? Am I getting a little too hardcore?

I don't know if I could hang with the raw egg. This is just me personally. The salmonella risk is there and I'd rather save the eggs to eat hard boiled and on salads.

There's also peppers (red especially), squash (butternut varieties are delicious and my favorite), and pumpkin. Pumpkin is like the one night stand of the food chain. It gets carved on Halloween and that's about it. It has so many aminos and nutrients though, and in autumn the prices are pretty cheap.

I want to try doing onions too to see how they juice.

I've tried garlic. With tomatoes and green veggies. It was okay, but be careful not to use too much!

I got a Jack Lalanne juicer for I think $100. I've had it for years, it's been great.

At the moment, Im putting melon (with the rind on) in the juicer in the morning, then adding that to frozen mango chunks in the blender.

    Then mid day, its:
    2 apples
    3 carrots
    handful of spinach
    stick of celery
    half a cucumber
    inch of ginger
and half a lime (with the skin on if its organic)

Then at night I juice 3 apples and add them to 5 blackberries in the blender with some cinnamon and warm it (not in the evil microwave!). Its bliss to go to bed with that.

Why is the microwave evil? I've heard this before and always wondered...

Apparently, they kill off every bit of goodness in foods. So, I read in a Jason Vale book anyway. He goes into more depth about it though.

Im gonna sell my microwave (soon as I give it a good clean), and have a wheatgrass growing pallets in its place.

    Right now I am sipping:

    Kale
    Asparagus
    Apple
    Red Kale
    Carrot
    Celery
    Beet
    Romaine
    Spinach

JUICE!!!! It tastes like what comes out of a lawnmower, yummy! I actually do like the grassy taste of it!

    http://www.localharvest.org/

This website is great for finding local coops in your area and many are organic (at least in my area they are).....probably no delivery options, but easier on your wallet than WFs.

Use the "Grocery/Co-op" and "farmers market" search options. I love this website!!!

Can't help w/the juice recipes...I'm not a fan..but my sis swears by her green juice

I love egg whites in my juice. It is a little hardcore, but worth it IMO. It give the juice a heavier feeling, but not so heavy I feel like it's sitting in my stomach for hours.

Note: I *do* have my own chickens so salmonella risk is really non-existent... You may want to look into a non-grocery store egg source.

I go with skins for cucumbers. As far as I'm aware of, the skins of cucumbers are safe to eat. However, mangos I absolutely do not. Some fruits (like mango) contain urushiol in their peels, and urushiol is the property in poison ivy that causes people to have the allergic reaction. I believe poison ivy and it's relatives have the highest concentration, and with mango it's smaller, but still enough to cause issues. If I peel the mango I'm good.

That's an awesome idea! Like a warm apple cider dessert before bed.
When I've done juice fasts in the past the evenings were always the hardest.

    Now I'm inspired!
Thinking I will start one tomorrow...my eating habits are usually good but this past week they've been really, really erratic and unhealthy.

Make sure you add way more than a pinch of cinnamon, makes it taste all cosy

Also what works for nighttime warmies, are:

2 pears, 4 apples and cinnamon (all juiced), and 8 pears, small inch of ginger and cinnamon(all juiced). Add the cinnamon in the pan tho, and dont boil the nutrients to death

Hee hee. Yeah. They're cute and out of place in suburbia but I love them. After eating fresh eggs, I will NEVER eat a grocery store egg again... they are so good.

JD if you're back in Dallas there's a little gourmet store in Snider Plaza that sells local free range eggs. I don't remember the name of it but it's close to the mediterranean restaurant.

A good savory juice is kale, carrots, celery, and tomatoes.

Watermelon juice is also yummy too.
