Question Full Net Weaves - yay or nay?

    Hey girls!

So, I've had literally every kind of extension on the market and even worn lacefront wigs but my girlfriend at work has a full net weave and in my opinion, it looks way better than anything I've seen in so long! Plus, she is able to protect 99% of her hair from heat styling, etc.

If you don't know what it is, it's where they cornrow your hair (except for what you want left out way at the top where your part will go) and then sew a netting material over the braids. The wefts of hair for your extensions are then sewn to the netting, which is alot easier on your hair and helps prevent breakage and hair loss.

I'm seriously considering getting my hair done like hers - you can't see any of the wefts and it looks SO natural and pretty, like the long hair flows straight from her scalp instead of that annoying mushroom cap affect most extensions get when your own hair is short.

My question is, has anyone here had this type of weave? I'm caucasian and I can't find any examples of girls online with my hair type who have it done, but my girlfriend at work is half black and half white with baby fine hair, and hers completely hides the wefts.

I just wanted to see if anyone had positive experiences with this type of method or horror stories!

    Thanks girls!

There was one time that they didn't do a very good job and you could see the wefts... she had to wear a bandana to cover the top!

But other than that... it always looked really good.

Well, I'vd worn normal wigs and I just tried my first lacefront last month. The one I paid an arm and a leg for wasn't cuticle-aligned like it was supposed to be and ended up being completely unusable after literally a week.

On top of that, I just don't like wigs too much. They itch, they make me paranoid that they will move around ... LOL ... I would just rather have extensions, although Lacefronts and other wigs look amazing on other women!

I've had this done, once. I wouldn't recommend it as much for Caucasian women but my mixed friend who gets them always looks great. I just can't wear hair extensions like that for that long, and the cap holds moisture so washing is hard, and it also causes itchiness. I can't go without washin mah hur! That being said, it looked great and only cost me about 90 bucks with hair, sewing in, touching up my color on my roots, and everything. My only complaint is I tried to add a fashion color that said '100 percent human hair' on the package and it ended up looking fried since it was a synthetic blend. So be careful selecting your hair.

My friend I spoke off who used to do this was Caucasian... but had really fucked up hair from bleaching it... so. It had a bit more texture and could easily go a lot longer without washing it...

Oh god. Me neither. Mah hurr (God I LOVE that I'm not the only one who calls it that!) gets so greasy I'm generally uncomfortable with ANY form of extensions that can't be easily washed.

I did mine cause my hair is super short and I wanted long pink hair... and cause my friend was getting hers done and I was curious. It was super painful/itchy though... I'm making clip ins tonight though! I think they'll work great. I just bought tracks from the hair store of human hair and bought wig clips to sew to em. It's way cheaper than buying the pre-made clip ins and more comfy than sew-ins... I literally spent less than 30 bucks on this project.

When I was in cosmetology school a lot of the Caucasian girls did this and it always looked incredible. It was a very common thing. I would suggest trying it but beware. They pull the hair and scalp very tight it might hurt since your scalp may not be used to this amount of tension.

Post some pix if you do it!

My first day of cosmetology school... the first thing I learned was that pain = beauty.

When I was in cosmetology school... there was a girl who spent the better part of a half hour trying to figure out how to pronounce 'subsections'.

Seriously, though. Anyone gets new hair... be sure and post pics!

i had a net weave once and it was great...i just had cheap hair so it start looking bad too soon. i have pretty long hair (brastrap when its straightened) and like to use weaves to also protect my hair from heat styling. net weaves look cleaner to me than weaves w/o it (with the exception of fusion, but even those can look fucked up lol).

lace fronts are tricky...they can look awesome when they are applied correctly, esp. when you have quality remy hair, but soooo fucked up when you mess them up. practice, practice, practice them before you go out in public with them lol.

question...why wouldn't you wash your hair with a weave in? i always do and i have no problems with it.

Oh I did wash it, but it was more of a hassle to. Also the mis-advertised 'human' hair I bought didn't wash well.

Thanks for all the responses mah lovely ladies!

Yeah, when I got that lacefront I holed up at my house for TWO freaking days applying it, cutting it, messing with it! It was soooooooo itchy that I would've been happy to scratch my scalp off.

I think I'm going to try this! My poor hair really needs a break to recover and grow. And I'll definitely post pics for you when I do - everyone loves hair porn! haha

I just finished my clip in extensions and wore them tonight... I got a lot of complements. I'd totally suggest trying this, and it was cheaper than either a nice wig or clip ins that were store bought.

Ya me too. I want to get into more colors but it's hard to find human hair in funky colors... that actually IS human hair.

I found this site while looking at hair extensions.. it has lots of tricks and tips on how to make your own funky hair colors on hair extenions with white blonde hair,, which is sold in human or remi hair.. I found it really interesting even though I could never do it myself.

as for the net weaves i never tried.. and too scared to put that much tension onto my hair since i have really thin hair. I had fusions before and damn they ruined my hair due to the weight.. so I just stick to hair clip ins.. cheap, easy and you can change colors!

Where did you get the hair so cheaply? I've been dying to get/make clip ins with human hair so I can dye it to match my red.

Black beauty supply stores. You have to watch for hair packaged as human that's actually a synthetic blend though. If you're coloring light hair for a bright red it may be more expensive.

i will say i have learned the hard way that while the hair you get at a BSS (beauty supply store) are cool if you want easy clip ins (premade or DIY), i wouldn't suggest it for a full head weave. get quality hair, and it will be good to you in the long run. Remy Indian hair (such as boheyme) is top of the line and while it costs a pretty penny, it is really worth it. with Remy hair, you can also color it...i have not tried it, but seen it done and look great.
