    Default Best Body Cream

I am trying to find something high end, very luxurious (ingredient wise), and I don't mind thick and greasy, in fact I kind of what something heavy duty like that so that my skin looks glowy. I have read about Lush Dream Cream, Keihl's Imperial Body Balm, and The Body Shop Coconut Body Butter, but I can't decide..... also some people have spoke about La Mer body creams and also Jo Malone, Sisley, and some others. What do you guys use? I don't want anything cheap or anything with petroleum or mineral oils, or heavily fragranced. Should I just mix a body oil with lotion, that's another option.

Kiehls = Eh. It's ok, but not the best out there.

La Mer = Overpriced Estee Lauder. Used to be great.

Jo Malone = OMM NOM NOM.. not as heavy as I think you want, but smell DELICIOUS!

L'occitane shea butter cream or lotion = the heaviest duty body product you'll find short of using pure shea butter. leaves an amazing sheen on the skin. I'd go with this one.

Malin + Goetz = awesome body cream. Probably not as heavy as you want, but really delicious. Leaves the skin feeling moisturized but not greasy.

What about the body bars from Lush?

LMAO!! OK JD, as per request, here you go:

Most skincare is overrated. It's all marketing and hype. Read your ingredient lists: they are almost all the same.

Lately I've been obsessed with pure aloe vera. Food grade. Put that on, follow with a layer of arnica gel, then a layer of coconut oil. That's been more effective than all the expensive stuff for me. I do it before i go to bed, so I'm a greaseball when I sleep, but buttery soft when I wake up.

While I don't believe all the "freak out hype" about parabens, I'm all for minimal chemicals in my skin care. NUDE is a great line. So is Perricone, Murad, and Malin + Goetz, though they aren't as naturally based. Check out Whole Foods for body lotions if you don't like the L'Occitane one.

Sunscreen is your friend, use whichever one feels good to you and has at least a 35 spf. Lately I've been touching up with the Peter Thomas Roth powder in a tube. It's killer for carrying around with you.

If you really want to get technical?

It's made out of mermaids, harvested by virgin croatian nuns during the full moon, that were hunted down by Beowulf himself using a spear made out of endangered asswood, that was hand carved by Angelina Jolie when in namibia.

Then you add a pinch of sperm whale semen, extract of bigfoot dung, and a giant fucking oyster.

That, my friends, is why it's the deal of the century at ONLY $500 for 8 ounces.

I like avocado oil or apricot kernel oil, depending on my needs; one is thicker than the other.

Honestly, I'm thinking something in the Salve category....like Vaseline. It's super rich, thick, and if you sleep it in it will sink in. It'll for sure give you a glowly dewy look. Not sure how good it is for your skin.

Edit: Whoops. Just saw you didn't want petroleum in it. There goes my suggestion...

I would recommend kiehls because oprah uses it. Ok not the suggestion you're looking for but I still like their products. Personally I found the most hydrating treatment you can use for your skin is sesame oil. I know coconut oil is really popular but I love sesame oil, you can use it all over your body before a shower (it's best when you warm the bottle in hot water) and then rub a lot on and rinse in the shower. You'll still feel the oil but it makes your skin really soft and I find it really relaxing.

mmu cosmetics makes good all natural ones. Not sure if their site is running since the owner was moving and it was down. The body butter gave my super dry skin a nice glow. Now ive been ordering from body bakery, though I dont know if you can get unscented since both of these sites specialize in bakery type scents.

When I'm looking for glowy skin I use Sabon products. They have a scrub that contains some naural oils that exfoliates and makes your skin soft and shiney, and then you finish off with either a regular lotion, or one of their 'butter creams' which sounds like what you want. Personally, I think it's amazing. Totally lush. I think it's comparable to l'occitane which someone already recommended. I love the l'occitane as well...

Two of my favorite products to use in the winter are Kiehls Creme de Corps body creme (don't be put off by the fact that it's a lotion, it's actually incredibly moisturizing) and Rice Dry Oil by Fresh. The rice oil is divine, it sinks right into your skin. I pour it into a spray bottle so I can mist it all over when I get out of the shower and rub it in.

Ooooohhh... haha. If you want really really insane moisture, Creme Ancienne from Fresh does rock my socks off. It's like 1/2 meadowfoam seed oil. And really is made by monks in the czech republic.

Do you mix this oil with a lotion? Is it light, heavy, medium, and is it heavily scented?

I wish I could remember what some of the other girls used. I never use anything too heavy because I don't need it. Just lucky I guess. I always stick with something that is vitamin e or the Goddess from Baby Phat. I was thinking about trying one of those body bars from Lush though.

They smell so great lol And I think they are thicker too.

It works great by itself, but a lotion can be layered over it to further lock in moisture. It is a dry oil so it goes on pretty light and absorbs quickly. The scent is fresh, it kinda smells like peaches. Doesn't interfere with my fragrance though because the scent fades.

I went and bought a huge aloe vera leaf from whole foods for around $2, and tried juicing it to either drink it or put it on my face, but that didn't work out too well! It came out as a gel and tasted really bad, like not drinkable. So I just cut off a part of the leaf, and squeezed some of the dark reddish gel directly from the leaf onto my face. It seems to tighten my pores and tone, so I followed that with a thin layer of coconut oil. I don't have arnica gel. Did I do this correctly? Or do you buy the jug of aloe vera juice or water that's pre extracted? I figured if I got it directly from the leaf it would be fresher, but does it even make a difference? Which type are you using?

    Ah, ok.

    I have this that I drink: http://blog.wholefoodsmarket.com/200...our-aloe-vera/ I linked a pic.

And this that I use on my body, but not my face. AMAZING for sore muscles: http://www.wholefoodsmarket.com/prod...em.php?RID=458

Then I use coconut oil from the neck down, at night.

This is the one I use on my face: http://www.aubrey-organics.com/Produ...?productid=081 I keep it in the frig and use it as a toner. You can also mix it with a little witch hazel as a supertoner!

Also - brain dead and hadn't answered your email yet - I use whatever sunscreen feels good on my face and doesn't make me break out. There really isn't that much of a difference in ingredients between brands. It's almost all Titanium dioxide ( which is also one of the only true white pigments, fyi), or Zinc Oxide with a smattering of other ingredients.

Lately for me it's either the Murad or the Peter Thomas Roth. But I have that little pack-o-screen from sephora and I've found some others that I'm liking. http://www.sephora.com/browse/produc...categoryId=B70

I literally have sunscreen stashed away everywhere. In every purse, in my car, by the bed, everywhere. Especially if you're doing peels, you HAVE to get obsessive with your 'screen.

Also, check for these ingredients. These are chemical sunblocks. BUT, Zinc Oxide and TD are also physical blocks, and the most effective.

    UVA chemical sunblock sunscreen ingredients
    Avobenzone, Parsol 1789
    Dioxybenzone, UVB, UVAII
    Ecamsule
    Menthyl Anthranilate
    Meradimate
    Oxybenzone, benzophenone, benzophenone-3
    Sulisobenzone, UVB, UVAII
    Titanium Dioxide
    Zinc oxide
    UVB chemical sunblock sunscreen ingredients
    Aminobenzoic acid
Cinnamates, octyl methoxycinnamate (OMC), Ethylhexyl p-Methoxycinnamate, high incident of contact irritation, non comedogenic, widely used.
    Cinoxate
    Dioxybenzone, UVB, UVAII
    Ensulizole
    Homosalate
    Octocrylene
    Octinoxate
    Octisalate
    Oxybenzone, UVB, UVAII
    Octyl dimethyl paba
    Padimate O
    Para-aminobenzoic acid, PABA
Salicylates, octyl salicytate (OCS), high incident of contact irritation, widely used.
    Sulisobenzone, UVB, UVAII
    Titanium Dioxide
    Trolamine salicylate
    Zinc oxide

Massage bars by Lush are great to use before bed, also good for taking off a self tan.

But then you can get either Shea or Cocoa Butter, raw, off ebay very very cheap.
