Question Nocturnal schedules and relationships/marriages.. HELP!

So gals ( or guys ) who are married / in LTRs; how do you find the time to do "normal" things? My husband works like either 7pm - 2am, or 9pm - 4-5-6am about six days a week. I work very infrequently, and find myself up at 11:30am or so.. while he sleeps til 4 or 5pm! I understand he needs his rest ( he is also likely going to be getting a promotion soon which will require even MORE time ) but on days off, he still rocks this schedule as to not upset his sleep schedule for the sake of one day off.

So what is there to do at night other than bars?? We don't really drink, if we do go out we may have one or two. He doesn't like nightclubs, he prefers dives and strip clubs because he feels most at home there. We drive out to Baton Rouge once a month or so to go see friends, but I find myself tired by midnight like I was last night. ( I look like a total party pooper- it's 11:30pm and his friend R's GF is saying "Poor J, she looks exhausted!")

I want to do normalish things ( though he says to me "What's normal anyway?" ) but for the life of me can't think of anything! So if anyone else is in a similar position, what do you DO on days off at night that don't require sitting at a bar? I'm normally creative but help! I need out of the house and I miss my husband!

24 hour gyms. My ex boyfriend and I used to play basketball and workout together super late/early.

    Night hikes.

    Run.

Grocery shop and food prep for the week.

We're in the same boat only I am the one that gets home at 4 or 5 a.m. I commute an hour away to the club I'm at now, and it's gonna be an even longer one once we move I need to find somehwere closer to work but am kinda out of options. Tucson SUCKS.

I feel bad because I sometimes sleep till 4 in the afternoon especially if I had a busy shift. He's usually got stuff to do during the day while I sleep, but on days when he doesn't have work, like on Sundays and Mondays, I feel shitty sleeping all day while he's flipping channels in the living room wanting to get out and do something with me. It's really, really hard for me to pull myself up out of bed so we can hang out "normal" hours. I did this a few weeks ago, got up at 11 a.m. which is early for me, and couldn't take it. I crashed out on the couch around 3 in the afternoon and slept for hours.

This is a hard one, nocturnal sleeping patterns SUUUUUUUCCCCKK. I hate it. I feel like I haven't seen fucking sunshine in years.

Sorry I am of no help, but I just wanted to share my story and tell you that I can SO relate to this.

Oh, look what time it is!!! 5:39 in the morning and I am wide fucking awake, yeah this sucks.

I agree SW, you can stay up all night posting naked pic of yourself for all us 9 to 5 'er to find in the morning LOL.

Seriously, its sounds like you need need a night job (not dancing). How about working in a personal care, nursing home night shift. With your medical background you should be able to get a LPN or CNA cert real easy (if you don't already have one).

You need to be on the same schedule as hubby to make it work. Lots to do at night together that doesn't involve bars and drinking. Don't laugh but night fishing can be a blast. Also eating dinner at 2am at all night dinner/truck stop type places is alot a fun. In NOLA I would think alot things would be graet at night just to get away from the heat, jogging, hiking canoing in the marshes, cleaning up oil (LOL, its not funny, I know).

24 hour places: Gyms and restaurants are nice. Some walmarts are open late or 24 hours, and grocery stores can be open late.

Sometimes I can talk my husband into painting my toe-and-finger nails for me...with a "reward" afterwards hehe

Walk, hike, run, go to the beach-bring a flashlight, wear light colored or reflective clothing and protection (hiking/hunting knife, mace, etc)

Most "normal couples" spend the day working so your schedule is not unlike theirs. You can go out to dinner and the movies at night, or bowling if you are into that. In fact you can do anything a normal couple does since all you've is switch the work/sleep hours not the off hours.

Star gazing, meteor watching, astronomy is also something interesting you two can do at night, tons of online info of cool stuff to find-watch in the night sky. Just need binocular or a telescope, lawn chairs, blanket etc...

Many years ago one of the best dates I ever had was sitting in lawn chairs, under a blanket watching that August meteor shower. Use your imagination as to what else can go on under that blanket too, lol.

You need to get on his schedule, without the destructive stuff that usually goes with a vampire schedule.

Do you have mini golf? Sometimes those are open pretty late.

Movies, bowling, late night hikes. My boy and I liked to go to a 24-hour Walmart and just wander around...weird people there at midnight. Play video games, cook for each other. Go to Hookah bars - they're usually really chill, open late and no alcohol....just Bubble tea or something.

We are the same way.. I dance and do webcam work and he works crazy shift work that goes from days to nights and changes weekly.. UGH.. We personally enjoy having friends over and cooking since we have a lil one and its harder to get out and about and do stuff with friends.. We also love eating out together, or staying in and watching good movies.. Were pretty boring though

One of those little date idea books suggested things like

Photo contest-who can get their picture taken in front of one object more times than the other. First one to see it gets the photo. VWs, liquor stores, statues.........

Scavenger hunt. Find a list of must haves......... a velvet Elvis, pogs, bottle caps from foreign beer, garden gnomes.

High end cocktail lounge........An excuse to dress up Ala "Mad Men".

    IR photography in graveyards.

Put Libertarian decals over all the Obama stickers.

Search the local papers for the "Best of".

Night time? Deserted parks? Sex in unusual places............

Go to other strip clubs and write reviews.

    Read aloud to each other.

Go fishing. Cat fish bite best after dark. dynamite or hooks your choice.

Star wheel, telescope, declination and acension, there is a comet inbound right now that is just visible with binos.

Veterans groups? Cookies and Kool aid at the USO center in the airport.

Make gift bags for a woman's shelter?

Sex shops and write hilarious reviews for the local independent.

    Disco bowling

Dave and Busters, Jillians, any arcade.

take a boat out on the lake.

I love tubing. Whitewater rafting too sometimes (medium level only), but the tubing is SO MUCH FUN. Like the lazy river at the amusement park x 100.
