    Question second round audition

    Hey guys!

When you are given the ol' "we'll give you a call if we need you", or "we aren't hiring girls right now" after an audition or interview, do you ever go back to club for a second round? If so how long do you wait?

Don't go back. If you do anything- call. Wait a month.

Usually if you're told that, it's a really nice let down. My husband manages strip clubs, and I asked him for you.

Sheeeeeiiit, I go back again and again at different times to see different managers. All I need is one yes and it's on. As a black dancer who has run into random racist fucktards, I wouldn't have made it very far if I hadn't been willing to try again and again. You can try multiple times in a week IF you hit up different managers and don't mention you've been there before.

I totally agree!! I have been VERY persistent with getting hired at a certain club of my personal choice and after three weeks of waiting and working with the manager and meeting him half-way (and continuing to be persistent...lol) here I am!! I am going back AGAIN this coming week. :-D

SO, in my personal opinion, I say that perhaps if it DOES happen to be the nice and sweet way to let you down because of look, weight, etc I say look at them dead in the eye and be straight forward and not beat around the bush.....ask the manager straight up "What is it that I would need to change or make different to work here? Is it my body? A particular area of myself that needs to be slimmer?? Please explain the honest reason why I can't work here...I want to hear the truth *insert name of manager here*."
Look, I did that after being turned away by the door woman at St. James the first time, who actually was incredibly blunt whenever she unemotionally and flatly said, "We are full for dayshift girls..try later. sorry." I then said, "Well, I'd like to speak to the manager." and she looked at me like "bitch" and I just stared at her as if to say "don't go there with me, I want to work here, and you aren't standing in the middle of that." She reluctantly dispatched over the dayshift manager. A minute or two later this really friendly and nice man in a suit came out, friendly as ever btw, and sat down to speak with me. We exchanged some small talk, exchanged names, and shook hands. He LOVED ME and thus a friendship blossomed! hahaha! just playing around! BUT in all honesty, I straight up asked if they were hiring and he said YES!! I looked over at the door girl like "wtf?! you lied to me!" she acted like she did not see me. whatever dude. catty women are part of the industry I suppose. lol. Well, the dayshift manager LOVED my look and everything else (as in my body)...he suggested though that I needed to shave off a bit of my mid section, which I agreed that my mid section IS my toughest part to keep tamed. He and I laughed. I assured him I'd be back after working at, as I joked, "taming the middle section that needed to be more trim!". He laughed whole heartedly, I smiled and said "you'll be seeing more of me.", and he assured ME while he shook my hand that he wanted me back there a.s.a.p., so I needed to diet and exercise hard so I can come back.

Low and behold, I called him up and he remembered me by first name. We talked a bit and he said, "I am so happy you have been so persistent! Come back this coming week and we'll evaluate the change and see if it's cool."

SO I say keep coming back to the club if you really want to work there. That is my humble opinion. It seemed to work for me....lol...it might/probably will end up working you too! :-)

^^^Exactly! You've got nothing to lose. If you go to a place and get a no it's unpleasant but not much lost. If you give up and assume you'll get a no, you just jacked yourself out of a job. So keep trying. Don't think other people who want to work for a good company don't apply over and over and schmooze until they get in.

Eh. Depends on how many managers and what shift you want, in my opinion. It also depends on whether it's a look thing or whether they are overstaffed; I went back diligently every week to Rick's Cabaret in Las Vegas last May when shit really started to tank. They told me every time their roster was full and business was slowing down. I know it wasn't me because I knew quite a few girls who worked there who supported the claim of slower business.

That being said at Rhino I did ask what I could do to get on there, and was told to "get boobs or get blonde"... I got blonde and was awarded the shift.

So, I guess it's situational. Size of the club matters too. In New Orleans, most of the clubs are pretty small... I can see why my husband ran/runs things the way he did/does.

The only time I've been refused work was at a very persnickety club around here. They REFUSED to give me a reason. I even told them I would cover my tattoos and they flat out said NO. So I never went back. I guess it depends on if your area has a lot of quality clubs or not... if they do then that club is probably disposable. If not, then persist.

Thanks guys ... It's nice to know I'm not the only one! I am going back tomorrow to the stadium club in dc. Last time I went, the manager was nice and said " we have a lot of girls coming by because we are new and yadda yadda." he wrote something on my application ( which I hope wasn't "don't call this one") and said he would call and let me know. I am nervous because of my small boobage. And overbite. And so on and so forth. But I figure next time I will at least get a reason.

Let us know how that club works out. They actually posted an ad on here and I live in NC so they aren't too far from me driving wise.

so..yeah...i didn't go so well. I went in, and there were two other girls......he must have given them the same speech he gave me, considering he was done in like 45 seconds....but then he came to talk to me....he said "oh hi nice to see you again"(great he remembered me?) . I said "hey I was just coming by to see if you needed any girls for the holiday weekend, and so on and so forth." He then replied...nah, we are chalk full of girls i just hired 8 last week and i had to put them through an intense 5-8 day training program...and only 3 of them made it." I said...really? he said..yeah... then walked away.

I wanted to ask him what kind of training program he put them through, but then he just walked away....kinda mid conversation.

I guess I must not be what he is looking for since he hired 8 other girls since I had been there. I dunno.

But I have never heard of a training program for new hires. Particularly one that 5 out of 8 girls FAILED. What could that possibly consist of?

Geez. I have been to clubs in md, dc, and wv...I could only manage to get hired in wv. Is anyone else having these problems? I mean I know I may be black, but I am not hideous..geepers.

It could be just me, because they are a very mixed club with lots of black girls...but they seriously do have A LOT of girls applying. Every time I show up there are at least 2 or 3 other girls waiting.

Ummm I have never heard of this? Most clubs don't really care if their dancers have sales or dance training. Most dancers train themselves (ie Dancerwealth, feature school, etc. etc.

I had a similar rejection couple of months back. I went there three times to speak to the manager. (It was no short drive either!) And on the fourth try he's finally there. So I wait in the lobby for an hour and a half. He basically makes me get topless and put on heels, and turn in a circle. He says I'm not 'Men's club material.' and refuses to tell me why. I didn't actually 'dance' for my audition, so he had no clue what kind of dancer I was. Stupid club didn't even have poles anyway.

Usually, if they tell you to come back then they aren't interested. If I were you I would go to a different club that was interested in hiring me. There are a TON of clubs. But, if you insist on trying again, I would go on a different/day or shift maybe. But, don't get discouraged you'll find a club to hire you.The only time I've been considered at a club, that had rejected me was post boob job. And, I'm not saying go get a boob job to get hired. I'm just saying after my boob job, I tried again at a club I had been rejected and was hired. You could ask them what they're looking for, maybe if you change your hair or something minor like your makeup. Also, I am half african american and alot of clubs have a "quota" with the number of black girls they hire. I have sent some of my friends to work at my club and they told my black friends they weren't hiring and hired my white friends. Or the managers they commented my black friends weren't what they were looking for. Sometimes it's hard to tell if they simply aren't hiring, aren't interested or have there quota filled.

I'm really annoyed that the stadium club posted here if they weren't going to treat the girls who did come by nicely. Grr.
