Exclamation my $$ was stolen while AT HOME

    BEFORE YOU READ THIS:
i just want to let you know that it is very easy for people (even in-laws) to steal money from you. all they've got to do is wait until you're not looking and take it. once they've got it in their pocket, it's all hearsay.
so this is what you have to do..make a little mark on all your bills to make them recognizable only to you.for example a heart, star, stick figure, highlighter...etc etc.then take a picture of you holding all your money and take a picture showing the little symbol.

okay so i counted my money when i got home, my door was half way open. but i didn't think anyone was watching, because i did not hear any noise, nor did i see anyone nearby. i guess i got comfortable in my own bedroom. i had ninety two dollars. four twenty dollar bills, two fives, two ones. i put them back in the little bag and then back into my purse..i go downstairs, watch tv for TWENTY OR THIRTY MINUTES and go back upstairs...i counted my money because i wanted to give half to my boyfriend (only because his $100 bill was missing), and i noticed a twenty dollar bill was gone! WTF!! i told my bf, and he said he thought it was his mom's husband. how odd my boyfriend's sister's camera is gone. my social security card is gone. my boyfriend's social security card is gone. my boyfriend's $100 dollar bill is GONE!my boyfriend's mom's husband has no JOB. is possibly an illegal immigrant. and is really creepy, always stares at me calls me SEXY, i feel like he watches me, and he also did that thing where he leaned up against the wall with his hand and blocked me into the hallway.he has caressed my face, when i was crying! i don't trust him at all. it was only him and me and my bf's mom upstairs..and my bf's mom has a really good job and she has morals she would not do that. so this is what I did!! I put blue highlighter marks on all my bills, i have my laptop's webcam on record in my bedroom..i even recorded me showing the bill's marks on them and counted them in front of the camera.i put my little purse on my vanity and left my door partially open. hopefully he falls for this..and steals it, because i want to catch him.what a bum.
i will find out who stole it, if not him. because i'm going to go to all the pawn shops in my area to find a certain camera. i'm going to track that camera down.hopefully he didn't sell it to a friend. at least NOW i know how to protect myself from thieves...what will he steal next?i feel like my privacy is extremely invaded!!

I understand this problem well.. My parents use to steal from me.. and I was just a kid. I got a lockbox at age 8. I still have it cause my sister takes after them and likes to tag along with my gma even when I said she can't come.. She stole my sliver ring with gems making a rainbow..

^ yea my friend's stepdad stole from him too. sad thing is, his mom and stepdad would treat him like cinderella makin him clean the house for them...and they were messy as shit too! they also charged him $500/mo rent when he was only 18 and a fulltime college student making $5.15/hr as a parttime grocery bagboy. his stepdad stole a $100 bill from his pants pocket one day when he was taking a shower. he was the dweeby passive type so he didnt do anything about it for fear theyd deny it then condemn him for dare accusing them. so i hear about terrible relatives like that and it really sucks. glad to hear your trying to catch that jerkoff in the act...wish i heard of more people as gutsy and creative as you!

Why are you staying with them? Is it some misfortune or is it your place and the parents came unexpectedly? Either you've gotta move or they've gotta go. Forget playing detective, this guy is a fucking rapist waiting to happen.

I got a security deposit box for this purpose alone. I'd count my stash from time to time and notice I'd miss $20 or $40 here and there. Sister was stealing it.

You need to file for a replacement from the Social Security administration, ASAP, and you need to start checking your credit reports very carefully over the next few months. If there's any inconsistencies you can file an identity theft complaint with the Federal Trade Commission. Keep a copy of the letter that comes with your social security card replacement, it can be used for evidence.

Most likely the guy sold you and your bf's SS cards. Whoever has it can put credit cards, mortgages, all kinds of crazy things in your name, could even use your name when they get in legal trouble.

I would even report your SS cards (and money) stolen now. That way if someone DOES use it to steal your identity, you have it on record that it's been missing.

Boyfriend's mom's husband sounds like a creeper. Have you told his wife about his threatening/invasive behavior towards you? Does she not realize what a creep he is, or is he abusive and has her scared to complain? Honestly if it were me I would have done something like choking him up against a wall a long time ago to show him that I wouldn't put up with his shit. You can't live with that in your home!

I keep my money hidden in a place where nobody would think to look. It is inside the case of a crappy dvd. Also I keep the door to my room locked. So unless the house is broken into and the thieves decide to steal my crappy DVD's, or the landlord comes to visit and decided to steal my crappy DVD's I should be okay.

Actually now that I think about it, DVD-stealing is a distinct possibility around here. Burglary is a serious problem in my neighborhood. I think I'm gonna move it someplace even more discreet like an empty vitamin bottle.

You can report the card as stolen to the cops but the actual SS office doesn't deal with stolen cards (it's actually on their website) however, the forms you'll receive from the replacement card can be used as proof of stolen identity should the problem ever arise.

    sorry this happened to you
my parents or bf would never steal from me.
also there is a possibility that he could sell it (if he didn't already) on ebay or amazon.
