Ironically, I was thinking of creating a thread like this, but the other thread about using the system kind of spurred me more. I am somewhat conservative and have gotten more so as I've gotten older. While I'm not a conservative Republican (in fact I've always considered myself more of a conservative Democrat until recently) I have some very strong conservative views.
My big pet peeve are anyone who abuses the system. I've seen countless people do this, dancers and nondancers alike. I've turned in anyone who was abusing the system. The reason being we pay for the leeches and I don't want to pay for people who are just lazy. Not to say I don't support the system, I do, but just make it fair. As of now it's not fair because in many states only single parents get assistance while childless or married do. In Illinois children of illegals can get all these free programs (they can't ask for immigration status) while single childless people can't. I'd make it where it's only for people who truly need it, and just aren't lazy.
Then there are the more social conservative issues. One of the biggest problems I see are those who had children out of wedlock. Yes, I realize that in many cases it's not their fault (and certainly the guy who got them pregnant is just as much to blame). However in many cases I saw single women (not just dancers) have baby after baby from various men, sometimes to get welfare, sometimes just because they don't use birth control. I think in general this society has many problems because of illegitimate children. Call me old fashioned, but I think it's wrong to have kids unless you are married to the father. I love someone now but we aren't sleeping together because of this (and both of us are very picky who we sleep with). Related to this, I knew a dancer and alleged escort who had 5 abortions because birth control was "too much bother". While I do support abortion rights, I personally doubt I'd have one unless the baby was disabled, I was raped, or it affected my life. My guy actually says I am prolife, not prochoice because I told him that if I became pregnant by him I'd expect him to marry me (and he would).
When I've actually told people I have several strong conservative leanings, I've had people ask me how I could have been a stripper or have no issues with the adult industry. My personal view is I see no problems with most aspects of the industry. While I do disapprove of the extras prevalent now (and the reason I'll never work fulltime in a bar again) the tease itself was fun. Even though I don't approve of extras in clubs, I actually support legalizing prostitution because my opinion is as long as it doesn't affect me, I don't care.
This isn't aimed at anyone at particular, just something I was thinking about.
