    Thumbs up Tracing your roots

What, if any genalogy services has anyone used? Any skeletons fall out of the family tree? I used ancestry.com. Pretty good site in my opinion.

I have been searching my dad's side of the family because it's been researched. I'd like to search my mom's side but so far have gotten a dead end. What I have found on my dad's side so far is amazing. First off, I found out my great grandfather was in fact a French Jew and his family were all killed at Auschwitz. I never knew I had Jewish ancestry and now put out a menorah at Hannukkah. I've also discovered I have relatives in Africa. Does this mean I have African blood or do they have European blood? Not sure yet, but I have long suspected Native American and/or Hispanic blood on one side of the family because as a child I looked Native American but people often thought I was Mexican as well. Another thing I have found out is that I am descended from royalty and am likely related to every royal family in Europe. I've heard from family members that I am only 3 or 4th cousins or so of the Queen but not sure if it's that close or an exaggeration.

My dad did that thing where they swab your cheek and give you back genetic results. It was $150, and was pretty interesting.

i totally want to do that, but only to see if i've got enough native american in me to get awesome benefits. considering how many "what are you?" questions i get, i think i just might. but i've got to be able to prove it. i'm not sure i can, because mohawks assimilated pretty early on, even converted to catholic, used white names and stuff.

and i'd also like to prove to my dad that we aren't french. i used to believe him, then i discovered that there was a totally unrelated hugeonot movement in germany that coincides a lot closer with the emigration dates. cos why the hell would they have left before the treaty of nantes was revoked, and to parts of pennsylvania and north carolina that were almost completely german, no less. duh.
