I have both.. only tried p90x for 2 days so far.
My first day of the work out was the Back and chest.. my arms killed for 2 days it was that of a work out and I skipped a few things too! Next day decided to do my legs.. only did 30/60 mins of the video and gah so tiring. But I like the videos, the work out, play some music and go go go! It counts down the time you have to go, and you set your own limits, so if you cant do 100 push ups, dont worry. They do use equiments, if you have a chair, dumbells and ball (i use a cushion or my couch for that) and you're good to go. But from what I did so far equiment was only used 30% and you could easily do something else instead if you dont have it. It based on strength, weight loss, bulding muscle, cardio (overall an all body work out).

I watched a few of the insanity videos.. It is mainly 90% on cardio then 10% strength. You need to be already more active within the cardio stages to keep up. This is why I did not do any of them, I like to focus on strength bulding than cardio. Lots of movements, jumps etc compared to P90X. The DVD does tone, buld muscle, and strength but it is without any equiment and like mentioned way more action packed in cardio, than just doing push ups or sit ups.

The P90X is based on a 90 day program while Insanity is a 60 day program. Depending what you're style of work out is what you should go for. I prefer the P90X since I like using my dumbells, and I like a ' slow ' pace work out which does not include all cardio moves. I;ve read reviews on both too, most reviews perfer P90X since it was a program that had everything from head to toe.

P90X is a better workout its always different so your body cant adjust and get used to it making you burn more and tone up faster. My Marine friends sware by it and I trust them their bodies are....delicious I could lick sweet things off them yummy. Oops sorry lol ya anyway P90X is a little more balenced from what Iv heard too.

I prefer P90X over Insanity, but we're all different. Bootleg it, use what works for you, and then buy whatever you use.
