    Default Philosophy "Supernatural Airbrushed Canvas"

    Anybody ever try this powder?

I used to never have acne. Ever. In the last 2 years though, I've been battling constantly with it... so bad at times that I now have scars. I tried every kind of cleanser and then I tried every kind of foundation, and then I tried not using anything. You know what works? Not using anything. It truly is foundation that's doing it. ANY foundation. From MAC to Smashbox to MUFE to drug store brands to Bare Minerals to tinted moisturizers. So far the -only- product I've been able to use is Benefits "hello flawless" powder. I've been using it for 2 months with no breakouts. The only time I got a couple pimples was right before my period, but that always happens with me. The weird thing is, I don't even have oily skin. Actually, my skin tends to be on the dry side. So I'm not sure why it clogs so bad. The issue with the Benefit powder is that, while it's nice for daytime and whatnot, it really doesn't cover as well as I'd like for work or nights out, it also tends to look a little "dull". So, now I'm looking into other powders. For some reason I havent had luck with any type of mineral line. I see that the Philosophy stuff has really good reviews. Any opinions on it? Any other suggestions? I'm trying desperately to find something that will give me coverage and glow without acne. : / Unfortunately I like the "dewy" sort of "just above natural" look... but that seems to be impossible for me to get without breaking out.

If you are having issues with powders then I think you should switch to actual airbrush make-up. I have heard of issues with breakouts with Philosophy which is why tend to stay away. Or you could try Perricone's No Foundation Foundation, which also may benefit your skin.

I didn't say I was having issues with powders. I said the only thing that hasnt broken me out so far is benefits powder foundation. It's the first powder (aside from mineral) foundation I've ever used.

Maybe try Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer. It's one of those products with a cult following, I really like it alot. It gives the dewy look, AND comes in an oil free version, which may work really well for you. I personally like the original version, I find the oil free version to be much thicker. It is SPF 35 too, and has a great color selection. Try it! If nothing else, go to Sephora and get a free sample.

I swear by Clinique's acne foundation. It covers really well, doesn't clog my pores, and has acne medication in it.

When I went to the South for a few weeks the change in humidity wreaked complete havoc on my skin. I went in with a completely clear face and came back covered in spots and redness, because I tried to wear my normal dry-climate liquid foundation.

Since then, i've been doing peels and wearing zero makeup whenever possible, and you're right: it really is the only way to clear it up. But when I do have to wear makeup, I wear Laura Mercier's mineral powder foundation. Sooooo much better than Bare Minerals! It's made from pearl powder so you can photograph in it and not get the same ghostly cast that BM gives. I believe that it has also helped even up my skin tone, and my scars are diminished. Def worth a try, the only reason it doesn't have that green all-natural seal at Sephora is because it has a light fragrance like her other products.

Yo Pen, one more suggestion...... I bought Dior NUDE liquid mineral foundation, and it is pretty damn good, for what you are looking for, a more glow-ish foundation. Not glowy like the LM tinted moisturizer, it's different, I guess I would say it's very hydrating. Go try out, I think this may be the perfect one for you! It has AMAZING reviews on sephora.com

I will check out both of the last two suggested next time I go to Sephora....

    Which is always "sometime soon"

I have really, really bad skin too. Skipping the foundation does totally make a difference. I've been really tempted Philosophy's Supernatural Airbrush Foundation -- so if you ever do try it please post your review. I love the Philosophy brand but it so expensive!

Anyway, believe it or not, I've had really good luck with this foundation powder: http://www.maybelline.com/Product/Fa...foundation.htm
I'm not sure if I'd say the coverage is good enough for work, but I do wear it on a day-to-day basis.

I've had the same problem as you, and I also found that using an oil free moisturizer daily will help. Sometimes, if your skin stays too dry, it will overproduce oil that will clog your pores. Right now, I'm using MAC powder foundation, and just adding the dewy look with shimmer powders and blushes. If you've found a formula that won't make you break out, I'd recommend sticking with it.
