    Default Post baby body

Im starting the long haul to get back into shape after bubs. Shes 8 weeks old, and I just received the "all clear" from my doc.
I had a few complications and ended up on bed rest for 6 weeks, and then spent two weeks in hospital after she was born.
I didnt put on any weight during the pregnancy, but after she was born Ive put on 15kg (hospital/bedrest and darn gifts of chockies, plus boredom/lethargy in between feeds)

One on my 'injuries' was splitting my abdominals (the outer muscles that make up a 6pack)

    For those stripper mummies:
Has anyone ever had this, and did you ever return to a '6pack' tummy?
Did you get bad stretchmarks, and if so did they fade, of can you cover them?
How long did it take you to get back into shape (good enough to strip?)
Are there any Twin/multiple Mummies who still strip? (I remember one girl mentioning twins before)

Im 100% breastfeeding, so that 1000 calories a day down, I just need to watch my diet (good healthy food for both me and my little girl)

Ill only be stripping 2-3 nights a month, as we live 600km from the nearest club, and only visit the city for a week or so every month.
My aim is to be back in shape by Xmas.

    Congratulations!!!

One of my friends had this (splitting abdominal muscles) she got back down to her normal size everywhere else but is still not 100% happy with her tummy ...
She is heavily into fitness though and is very hard on herself. I think she looks great BUT her stomach definately isn't the same as it was before.

It's taken me AGES to start even losing a little weight ... (my boy is 7months now) although my medical issues have contributed to this. I found eating veges fish and lean meat and lots of water in the last month (cutting out heaps of carbs) has been the only thing to help bring my weight down a bit. Because your'e bfeeding though you will still need to keep your carbs up but you will probably burn them off anyway!

    Good luck

P.S I'm a huge fan of Palmers Cocoa Butter - seemed to help with stretch marks (or at least kept my skin soft!)

I never went back to dancing,I miss it but never went back. My son is 9 months old now. I still have some stretchies and still a little weight. Slowly but surely you'll get there again. Stretch marks never really go away on their own unless you want to get some of that laser surgery done-or what ever it is they do for stretch marks. If you're breastfeeding it will mess with your breasts. Mine are like deflated balloons, but I went from a B to a DD over night and breast fed for a few weeks. But Everyone's body is different-I'm sure you're one hot momma.
    I is a mommy.

What do you mean by that? Breastfeeding does not burn 1000 calories in a day, at most it burns 400 (you can read it on most parenting sites/ mommy exercise sites)

I too am a mama to a 5 1/2 month old girl and I am soo not back in shape, I have no time to exercise unfortunately except going on walks with the stroller, I wish you the best of luck on your goals! You can do it (I totally recommend Jillian Michaels workout DVD's, they are amazing!)

I worked out the calories with my lactation consultant (I had supply issues, so had to rule out lack of calorie intake as a cause)
1 ounce equals 30ml, each ml takes 1 calorie to make. My daughter weighs 5kg, and needs at least 150ml per kg to grow. so estimated at 650 extra calories per day.
I pump and freeze an extra 300 mls each day, in case of emergency or illness (Ive been in and out of hospital, and was on medication which you cant take while breastfeeding)
Im walking for an hour each day, and carry my daughter in a sling, so her weight burns a few extra calories
Plus Im doing Pilates/yoga at home, for my aching joints.
Ik really hope to be back at work by November, we want to go over seas in Dec (Hubbies grandfather turns 90, plus this is the first great grandchild) and I cant justify taking the money from our budget/savings
Back to the gym on Monday.

Nice I have one of those Jeep baby carriers and man oh man my shoulders get soo sore from it..but it is probably due to the fact that I am still out of shape You are lucky you have the time to exercise! lol. Sounds like you are well on your way to meeting your goal by X-mas time!

to update i was diagnosed with a hormonal imbalance, and didnt lose all the weight before getting knocked up again.
only one bub this time, so should be easier to lose. plus if i want to birth with my doctor i have to stay within the weight limits (or travel to the specialist hospital, since my bmi is 30 already)
plus i have the humiliation of my tiny asian inlaws telling me that im massive, to give a bit of a push.
my abdominal seperation has really impacted my exercising, theres a lot i cant do, and ive nearly injured myself by over doing it.
the thyroid/pitutary issues are under control, but it will be a slow journey.
