    Default Names that advertise

I've tried doing normal sounding names but I think I want to try a name that advertises. For example, the top earner at my club went by "Maui", and she was very bubbly, fun, and super tan, so the name fit her well but also when most people think of Maui they think of a vacation therefore having a good time. Another top earner went by the name of "Guilty", which advertised that she was into domination, which earned her many fetish customers.

How do you all feel about this? I know a lot of people don't like these names and think they sound corny but I think I want to try something new. What do you think and what names have you used or heard of that said something about a performer's (by performer I mean dancer, cam girl, etc.) personality that worked well for them?

I dunno girl, I've been danielle for more than 10 years now. I've never been a fan of the non-real names, but I can see that they would be fun. I also don't have non-real name because I am very heavily tatooed, and I like to work at clubs where I am the only tattooed girl; therefore standing out & not needing to advertise... You can see me from anywhere in the room, I really stand out.

pick a name that suits your personality; you can't go wrong with that, whether it be real or non-real, and own the fuck out of it.

That's great advice Daniella. I know dancers with the most ridiculous names, and I really doubt it affects their money very much.

    My general rule of thumb:
upscale gentleman's clubs - Elegant names (think Jacqueline, Michelle, etc.. something that is business like but feminine...something that could be on a business card).

internet modeling / camming - depends on your goal. If you're looking to blend in and not be "found" easily (family, parents, friends), then a common name. If you're looking to brand yourself, than the more unique the better.

I'd love to peruse a list of interesting and off-the-wall adjectives one day, just to see what I can come up with.

i think it depends a ton on the girl, the club, and what kind of customers she's aiming to attract.

the good thing with the exotic names is that you can always say "but you can call me..." and give a super normal name.

i'll joke that i could tattoo my home address and social security number on my ass and be totally safe, because custies will all just assume it's a hustle. but it's true. they usually assume that everything we do is a hustle. or that we're clueless, and easy to jerk around.

when i start dancing again, i'm gonna start doing super glamorous and fake like i used to when i started ("real" was very good for a while, but it fizzled out, and now i don't have any of the glamorous fake stuff left). i'm even going to give in and get my nails did. and i'm gonna start using a stripper name.

when the economy was good, understated worked well. but when the economy sucks, it's the girls who look high maintenance (and therefore must be pretty good if they can afford to look that way) who do best.

so i don't think names like that work because they show personality. it's because they scream 'stripper'. i think that's become the 'in' thing again.

^As soon as I order my new computer I want to try camming, and YES I want to stand out!!! So I want a good name

Also, the club I worked at was a peepshow, and you couldn't really talk to dancers unless they were in the Private Booth, in which case just to talk to them alone it was $10/2min. So I feel like in this case an interesting (but memorable!) name was beneficial since sometimes it's all the customer knew about us! I feel like this would be helpful to camming as well, yes or no?

I'm also sick of my old name (Tanya). It fit well but I want something more exciting!

A few memorable names I've run across in clubs: Sable, Lovely, Miami, Johnny (maybe spelled differently, like Gianni)and Malo. Their names fit them well. I'd recommend saying a few you can think of aloud and in "announcements" like a dj would. See which fits while you're dressing up in the mirror and see which ones seem to work well with your alter ego and make you smile.

City names and traditionally male names seem to go over well: Charlie, Dallas, Cheyenne, Madison, Billie

Yeah, especially since they can Google you if they want to find you again. Like maybe they don't remember what site they were on, they just remember they cammed with a girl named "(fill in the blank)." On the flipside, some girls use multiple names to suit their different niches on different sites. On one site they project the image of a rocker girl and go all out with that image. But then on another, they are girl next door. That may depend on the niche of the website you are working for and whether you prefer to keep it simple or compartmentalize.

^^I was totally thinking about Lovely. I really like that name.

^I love niches, I'm totally going to be trying out some different names and personalities. I've done it before, but kept the same name, but I think I want to do deeper character development.

    Thanks ladies!

I just found out that my ex is taking credit for christening me Tempest, allegedly because I destroy everything in my path. LOL I can't even remember how I got my name but I have never met another Tempest in Florida, Missouri, Texas, New Mexico, Arkansas. You get the idea.
IMO you should pick a name that fits you and that you love.

do your friends ever make fun of you for something unique or cute that you do?

not like something gross haha but maybe something funny like your accent?

for example, we just had a girl join our private party company in boston (bachelorpartyhq.com or bostonstrippers.com) and she is new to the area. she's originally from Texas and has a strong texan accent. her stage name is Paige and she's super sweet and bubbly and has that southern sweetness to her and the accent is super strong. on our way to shows we call her "texas" cuz it fits her as a cute name. then it hit us that Texas should be her stage name!!! something like that would be cute and unique.

think of something unique about you that sets you apart, or that your friends always notice about you.

another example is one time my best friend (who is really ditzy and clumsy) spilled an ENTIRE bottle of hot sauce in my coach purse i literally cried on the spot and was pissed at her for like a week. now i'm over it and now it's funny and i call her "Hot Sauce". something like that might be a cute stage name too. my boss and i were talking about it and he said that the guys would go nuts over "Hot Sauce" haha.

stage names like that are cute but only work for that unique person. which is good because it will set you apart and it will be hard for someone to copy or duplicate it because it only has that effect for that specific person. I have a boston accent and couldn't go by "Texas" or "Hot sauce". seee what i mean?

i'm sure you will find something perfect for you

hope i helped a little bit!

    ^Those stories are so cute!

Haha now next time I embarrass myself I will seize the opportunity for a stripper name.

    And yes, I'm serious.

I use Arialandre for domming as it is interesting exotic and (when pronounced right *eyeroll* commanding).
But for camming I just usevthe short version Aria. Short, sweet, easy for guys to remember, sounds exotic but still a "real" name without being boring. And for those in the know an "aria" is also a section in an operatic piece.

The other night a friend named me "Sienna", and so far I like it! My persona is kinda wild, loves to travel, wears a lot of leather, and pushes people around quite a bit. I think the name fits!

And I have a new job doing private parties! Woo hoo!

On the same note, how do most of you feel about surnames? I noticed a few members of my new burlesque troupe have a double monniker. I can't think of one. The original Tempest is still alive and kicking at 84!

I love surnames! I think they're especially good if you start a personal blog.

Let us know what you pick! Tempest is already such a good name, your surname will be amazing.

Tempest Lane? Tempest Queen? Tempest Moon?

Speaking of Sherlock/literature and literary names, I love the name Phaedre! She was the evil stepmother who had it bad for her stepson...Her capricious lust brought down the whole kingdom. Tragic!
