    Default Carpet Cleaning???

Alright, let me start off with this:

*Replacing the carpet is NOT an option

*Getting rid of the pets is not an option

*Professional cleaners are an ABSOLUTE last resort

Alright, carpet. It's about 4 years old, but it's in terrible shape. Pet stains, mud stains, food spills, all that. One time, our old carpet shampooer even bust a leak and soaked the carpet through, and it's never really dried properly. There's one spot that's always felt the slightest bit "damp".

The biggest issue is the pet stains though. Our dogs are potty trained now, but of course they weren't while they were puppies, and one of my dogs has a problem with submissive urination (It's not a potty training issue, it's a natural dog behavior. Some dogs can't be cured of it, and no I don't abuse my animals). One of our cats pisses on the floor from time to time, despite also being litter trained and goes outside to potty.

I have a Bissell Deep Cleaning Carpet Shampooer. I run it every 3-4 months whenever we get weather that's dry enough to use it. I always start with a clean water rinse with the shampooer, just to get the carpet slightly damp, then I put my pretreat spray on (I use Nature's Miracle). Pretreat works better when the carpet is already damp, so I let that sit for about 10-15 minutes, then I shampoo the carpet normally using Bissell's Deep Cleaning shampoo + pet.

Once I finish shampooing and soaking up most of the water, I go over it again with another clean water rinse, but add a little bit of white vinegar for odor control.

This usually works, but the smells come back within a week.

Do you girls have any experience with carpet cleaning? What would you recommend??

I have a carpet and I have also a pet that always poop on my carpet. Of course there are pet stains on my carpet and I always use Bissell Deep Cleaning Carpet Shampooer. It is great because it can easily remove the stains on my carpet.

That's the stuff I use too. Oh no, it's WONDERFUL for stains, but it don't do SHIT for pet odors. Dog urine, maybe, but cat urine. Holy fuck, nothing gets cat urine out.

I don't know about deep cleaning, but for "maintenance" I like using Woolite Heavy Traffic Cleaner. I looks like white foam, smells fantanstic in my opinion and you can buy a "stick" to attach the can to for brushing it in the carpet. It also can be used on furniture. I love using this for just cleaning maintenance. I have found it more convenient to just spray it directly on rug and use the brush to activate it. I then vacuum afterwards. Just a suggestion

If you have animals peeing in the carpet just cleaning the surface is only a temporary fix. It sinks into the pad and its always going to come back. They have carpet companies that have one year interest free financing. Also they have a pad out now that doesnt absorb liquids so you could tear up the carpet put that down and just clean it again really well but yeah I went through this with my persian she had kidney disease and the carpt id just ruined!
