    Question extensions conditioner

So for those of you who have some sort of extensions that stay on your head full time (not clip ins) made of real hair, what type of shampoo and conditioner do you use? Mine are starting to get a bit dry from curling, and i need a good conditioner to keep them hydrated. i have already learned the hard way once that a lot of conditioners that are good for your hair are not good for extensions (i destroyed my microlinks once with protein conditioners). so what do you ladies use to keep yours nice and soft?

also, i have platinum extensions and they are looking a bit brassy... any recommendations for one of those purple shampoos to help keep it platinum without damaging them?
The best thing i have heard in a strip club to date:
customer: we should get married right now! we should get a shotgun marriage!
me: uhh... i think you are misunderstanding what a shotgun marriage means. A shotgun marriage means you knock me up and my daddy shows up at your door with a gun and forces you to marry me and raise the baby. You mean elope.
customer: hmm... nah actually i will take the shotgun marriage. At least then we would be having sex.

You can get it at Rite Aid, CVS, Kmart, and alot of salons. They have a line called K-pak And, that's the kind I use on my extensions.
Here's a pic of the bottle

For the brassy-ness I use Clairol Shimmer Lights toning shampoo. Leave it on for a minute or two and rinse. Not sure if it damages, by hair is pretty damaged by bleaching the shit out of it anyway so I don't really notice

Thank you for posting this! My hair stylist keeps telling me to get the "k-pak" to get some protein back into my hair. The girls at Sally's keep acting like they don't know what I'm talking about... & I'd bet money this is it.

Oh, Athena, check the back of those K-Paks... I suspect they might have protein - I think that is why the stylist had recommended them to me.

I don't have extensions but I use the Paul Mitchell detangling conditioner which is amazing for long hair that tangles. I'd ask a stylist before using it on extensions though.

Yeah, my hair was so fried, from extensions and bleaching my stylist told me to get K-pak and to deep condition between visits. And, it has done wonders! You can get it any drug store or salon but Sally's doesn't have it.

Most of the ladies at Sally's have no clue what they are talking about anyway. Try a salon OR if you know someone who is a licensed cosmetologist, get them to take you to a professional store (beauty alliance etc.) You can get salon products wayyy cheaper but most of those places you have to be licensed to buy from.

Bumble and Bumble Seaweed is a great basic shampoo that will clean your extensions without overdrying and not make them slip out. My hair stylist recommended Kerasilk hair treatment as a conditioner and it worked really well, you can find it at Ulta. But I found that it has mineral oil in the ingredients list so I don't know about that one anymore.. Another conditioner I love for extensions is Terax Crema. You can find that one at Ulta as well

whatever conditioner you use (i'm still trying to find one that works for my extensions), don't get it on the bonds. i take my extensions out with conditioner, if you don't want them to come out- just use it midshaft to ends.

My extensions girl told me to put my hair in a ponytail and leave deep conditioner on the ponytail part for 20 mins and then rinse. That way, you arent getting conditioner on the bonds. I use l'oreal everpure the sulfate free shampoo and conditioner (smoothing).

I used Pureology on my extensions, and it made my extensions SO smooth. My hair seriously felt like silk after using it. All there different lines are awesome, but hydrating products are highly recommended for extensions.

Also, Pureology is a bit expensive, but a little goes a long way.

Exactly! It's definitely worth it to keep them healthy and useable, do you have an Ulta by you? Ulta sells small travel size bottles of the shampoo/conditioner so then you can figure out if you like it or not before you buy the bigger bottles.

Pureology is full of proteins. I used nano when I had geat lengths and at 6 weeks the hair looked like crap. Theres like 5 different proteins in all the pureology shampoos.

A lot of Organic brands have condish that is protein-free. Check your local Whole Foods, etc.

Also, with my extensions, I've noticed that dry shampooing my roots and the hair on top of my head as it gets greasy is REALLY helping the condition of my extensions. They used to get all crappy and gnarly but for a while I've been dry shampooing (or cornstarching, mainly) almost every day instead of shampooing/conditioning every day. Now I am only washing my hair about once a week or even less. If I start to feel REALLY grody, I'll clip back the air with the extensions in it and bobby pin a shower cap over them, flip my head upside down and just wash the top and the hair near the nape of my neck...
