    Default Living close to work

So I'm not to this, But have been wanting to do this for sometime. I'll be auditioning today with my best friend.
But I've been stressing the fact that i live realy close to the place we are auditioning for like with then a 5 minuet walk to or back from the place. I'M just wondering how safe that is?
Like will i have problems with stalkers following me home?
We have decided to work together and come home (back to my places) together as a safety precaution, But I live alone and she want all ways be here.

Eeeeeh, be careful. I live about 2 miles from my work and I ride my bike and it can be freaky as hell. And you live like 2 blocks away? I'd circle around the block a few times coming home if I were you. And have somewhere to drive to that's not home if you feel like you are being followed (or drive right to the police station).

And NEVER tell people a) that you live close by or b) that you're about to leave (other than management). When customers hear that you're going home for the day that makes it way too easy for them to be in their car before you're dressed and out the door.

Have someone drive you. Don't walk.

Yeah, I definitely wouldn't take the chance. Either drive or have someone pick you up or pay the bouncer to walk you home.

Are you in a city and that's why you are walking ? Too difficult to park ect.? If it's not a hassle to drive, I'd drive and then loop around different routes to go home always being super super careful to watch . If you have any remote feeling someone is following you, go park at a grocery store / police station or other well lit area. I'm not sure I would want a club bouncer to know where I lived either.
You could also sometimes walk to work and then take cab back ( they will probably have a $5 minimum or something ). I have a feeling you might be in a big city though where driving might be a real hassle.

I'd definitely drive, much faster to get away if need be. Also, NEVER tell anyone your color/make/model of your car, ever. Having a security buddy is always good also. Just be careful, but over think it either because you'll just drive yourself nuts!

Yes I would deff drive, doesnt matter if its 1 or 10 mins, its your safety. Esp depending on the area and the hours you leave are late, who knows what crazy guy happens to follow you? If its the city, parking could be hetic but its the city where at least one crazy guy inside or outside the guy is out there. Someone suggested circling around the block before your home - good idea! Plus if you're deciding to leave, go with your friend always safer to have someone with you. And I would tell custies I live an hour away or so to be on the safe side.

i lived a 3 minute drive from work, and i always circled the block before going home. i checked my rearview mirror constantly and if i ever saw consistent headlights i would drive to the police station, they would always leave.

also, invest in some pepper spray or a taser just to be safe.

    A few tips:
    1. Dress down to get to and from work - Put on your baggiest sweats, baseball cap and transform yourself at work. Before you leave scrub your face and put on those scruffs again. People will think you're the cleaner - me, i used to ride my BMX with a scarf roud my face and hair tucked under my cap - people thought i was a teenaged hoodlum and generally stepped the hell outta my way on my way to and from the club!
    2. Drive if you can - doesn't matter that it's close. Again, dress down on your way out.
    3. Have a bouncer walk you to your car or cab - better to get a cheap cab ride home from a cab company the club trusts than walk.
    4. Carry pepper spray or taser.
    5. Don't tell people where you live or your mode of transport - lie lie lie to custies - if you drive, tell em you get a cab, if you get a cab, tell them you get a lift with a friend. I used to deflect all those enquiries with my standard "We all live in a big stripper ranch where we go home and have pillow fights before we go to bed, like the Waltons meets Playboy Mansion!"

I doubt people will walk home with you, if you do not have a car:
TAKE A CAB or Carpool with other dancers, get a ride from friends, anythign but WALKING

I know people think cab and think big bucks but all it will come to for a block drive is $5-10. It is worth it when your saftey is at risk.

A cab that short of a distance is really cheap. I was just staying really close to the club that I was working at. I told the cab driver I'd give him five to drive me a block down the road. I don't know if he turned the meter on every time. The first time it came out to about three dollars.
