Hey ladies,
first and foremost I want to say a huge thank you to all of you who share what you learned the hard way so newbies (like me) who are eager of more information find it all in one single place. SW is definitely the best website ever on the adult industry and especially, where I'm getting now, the webcam modeling industry.
I am a black 21 years old girl who lives in Paris, France. So yay to those who are frenchies or french-speaking, feel free to befriend me and/or PM me for "un petit" chat!
Long story short, I have been in the adult industry since I'm 18. Been independant escort girl then quit cause I didn't want to get known in the town where I was living back then. I have been doing cam shows here and then, randomly, for pocket money. I also did some "students" jobs where you get paid 500 to 700 US$ a month for about 25 hours a week besides going to college. Then I stopped college because I was sick at the idea of running 2 jobs to make ends meet, besides studying, for the next 3 to 5 years - kind of time required to get a "nice job" diploma. Well now I'm here (in Paris) and live with my boyfriend.
So yeah... since last month I consider webcamming as a serious career, and I'm getting back to it steadily. I don't want to return to escorting, first because I think I have learned and experienced all I ever wanted from escorting, secondly because I now have a boyfriend (soon to be fiance) who already "accepts" my wish to become successful in webcam modeling, and I think this is really amazing of him (my ex boyfriend would talk about such girls as whores and stuff but I bet he was running to such sites at nights... whatever... you know how this kind of guys are.)
So here I am, serious career goals, big daily goals, even started a blog to generate some content and some affiliate links later. I'm NOT going to ask you how to get traffic, SEO tips and such - you spent months talking about it and it's my job to go through the posts and find the gems![]()
Now, what I would ask you...
I'm signed on LiveJasmin, Webcams.com, ImLive and Camworld. I only started recently to split cam between chats. I feel really bad about what I'm going to stay but I want to share it, I hope other girls who feel like me and live the same thing as me will feel less alone! Or maybe am I the one who will feel less alone after sharing, heh?
So yeah, few months ago, I decided to sign on large sites and work seriously on it. One approved me quickly. There, I spent sometimes up to 8 hours a day in front of my cam, and on this site (not sure if I can share which so I prefer not to) I made only 200 US$ in 2 weeks. This website writes in REALLY SMALL letters, in an ALMOST INVISIBLE spot that you are paid 4 weeks after you have done your job and I had the AMAZING surprise to discover that my Epassporte card would be shipped an other 2 weeks later. In short, it took me 6 weeks to get paid my first paycheck. Now that I have the card they will pay automatically on it the day I'm done with my job... but it's still happening 4 weeks later. The experience on the site was great, good traffic, though this whole 4-weeks-later-payment bugs me. Best: it doesn't even include the period's chargebacks. The chargebacks move to next period's payment.
Honestly, it's a great webcam newbie site, it taught me the ropes of webcam modeling. So any kind of money I could make off of this first experience, I took it. But hell yeah, I wish I made more!
On other webcams sites, I took it less seriously and only stayed online a lot the last week. On two websites, I am reaching about 50 US$. On the third, it is not even showing my profile when I type, can't get to see where is their "contact us" page to fix this issue so I have made what... 4 US? I don't even get how the guy got to my chatroom. Whatever...
When comparing it all, I do roughly 30 US$ every 12 hours of work.
It's incredibly low, I know.
Now, I know I have to put in the hours, to step up my game, upgrade slowly my independant camming fan base, my appearance and grow my website traffic (I read you as industry's bible!). I am scared of splitting between more than 3 cam sites but you know what, maybe I should try those I heard of like camwithher, onhercam etc., see if maybe it fits me better. I'll do that as next big steps and slowly stop camming on sites that don't bring me anything.
For now, my questions are:
1. I saw some models are just showing their faces on webcam, hardly moving; some others on the contrary, move all the time to please the guys; I saw a top earner just zoom on her ass and constantly slap it between two movements of cam to her face... Are there, without insulting you with a "magic formula question", are there key movements or sounds (voice, music - I never have music on) that brings more easily the private shows ? I read a topic on here on what to say to a guy during private shows (bookmarked it!) now not sure about how to move.
2. Did you make this kind of money when you started ? How long did it take you (hours per week or whatever kind of shift you sticked to) to get an "acceptable" pay check ?
While I do realize what I do is extremely low, I have to admit I didn't take it this seriously. It's only starting these days - obviously when I need the money. I made 800 US$ a month on a friends' ran site but guess what, when it's summer, there is 0 traffic. And they only promote one girl... the owners' girlfriend. So yeah, I am out of there. Besides, I don't want to stick to 800 US$ a month all my life, I want three times that at least.
I'm giving myself 6 months to reach this kind of income.
3. Is it reasonable time to expect such money ? Is it too long ?
Ok, now you are done reading this crazy long post.
