    Default Saunas!

Any of you ladies use saunas? I prefer Dry Sauna.

I usually end my everyday workout with at least 5-10 minutes in a dry sauna just to relax my muscles.

On my cardio days I don't have enough endurance just yet to do cardio for a full 45-60 minutes, so I do as much as I can (usually about 30-40 minutes) and then spend about 15-20 minutes in the dry sauna with a big bottle of water to keep my heart rate up and relax my muscles.

I usually feel like SHIT after working out, but sauna makes it all better

I think I need to start putting some lemon in my water or something, though. I'm losing so much water and though I'm drinking tons to replace it, I don't think I'm getting enough electrolytes.

Maybe try gatorade because when you sweat you loose more than just water, including salt and maybe electrolytes? But yeah, thats why people that are active and sweating drink gatorade or other work-out drinks. I don't work out but I drink gatorade in the summer a lot because i just sweat sitting outside in 100 degrees.

I would avoid Gatorade. It's full of sugar and other chemicals you don't need. Try electrolyte enhanced water from Whole Foods, in the bottle water section, it's 365 brand. Much better for you than Gatorade and less expensive too! I personally love coconut water though.....

Yeah I avoid sugary drinks like gatorade or processed lemonade. I'll treat myself to a soda maybe once a week if that, but I've been sticking to milk, water, iced tea, and black coffee.

I've been trying out that workout routine you gave me, J.D. Bout to go start on a weight run right now!

That's great! Remember, the MOST IMPORTANT thing about this workout is not to kill yourself, because you NEED to make this part of your everyday routine so that you don't burn out fast. Good job with the drinks!

I've heard of them, but I don't think there are any in my area. At least not at the gyms I go to. I have a free membership to my college rec center and my dad has a free gym membership to his company's rec center, so I can go in whenever as well. Their saunas are just the standard hot wood room.

The weights are easy enough to do - the hardest part I'm having is the sit-ups and push-ups! I'm not exaggerating that even girl push-ups are absolute hell for me right now since I have very little upper body strength. I'm doing 15-rep free-weight chest presses to supplement and I still feel the burn and it's very doable.

I can only do one round of sit-ups per circuit. For the other circuit or two I supplement with Oblique dips and those little ab twists while balancing on my tailbone and holding a weight.

Gatorade, like coconut water, has a lot of sugar in it, and these simple carbs are actually good and necessary for your body to restore muscle glycogen after an intense workout (otherwise your body may break down muscle tissue for this same purpose)---plus the insulin spike the sugars give you will help with protein shuttling.

This means drink Gatorade (or any sugary drink) never as a thirst quencher but only as a post-workout drink, and add some whey protein to it before downing it.

Do you think the type of sugar you eat makes a difference? Like natural sugar in fruits vs refined?

I love saunas after a work out. Control your breathing in it and just relax. I usually stay there for ~15 -20mins. Sometimes Ill even bring a body scrub and use it there. I do notice when I work out the same way, and do not use it, my muscle are more stiff and sore. So I do think it helps loosen the muscles and relaxes the body after a work out.

Remember after you work out to sweat give those body parts a day break, and always do a cool down, such as walking on the spot for 3-5 mins to get your heart beat on track. And with the push ups and sits ups it will take time, keep working at them and you will build the strength slowly. I drink protein shakes, just water and a bit of powder ( 500ml) after my work out and they seem to help me out. Remember when you work out on your arms give them a rest for a day, work your body out that you need to push yourself more than you usually would, but not to faint!
