I think people ask because so many strippers are all different nationalities. So it's just an icebreaker question. Also you obviously have lived in Australia a long time but you do still have an accent. It's definitely not strong Hungarian accent, since my bestie is Hungarian and I've spent lots of time with tons of Hungarian's and I couldn't tell you were Hungarian! hehehe But I could hear some sort of accent. I would milk it if I were you... guys love Eastern European's from what I've seen.

It is annoying when people don't know anything about where you are from and talk like they do (some freak tried to argue with me about how cold Canada is and even went as far as calling me stupid..ya cause I dont know the temperature in my home town where I lived for 23 years and where my parents still live who I talk to every week). You can't take it personally. Heck I make crap up just out of sheer boredom about being Canadian... tell them I speak french, tell them I played ice hockey, all I did back home was drink beer and shag since it was too cold to do anything else... blah blah. Be proud of your European background. Eastern Europeans rock! Especially Hungarians.

really you has friends from there? haha my best friend is actually canadian. how funny.
i dont know im sortof sick of jackass responses and the things hungary is known for arent exactly heaps positive and i dont understand why people bring them up. for some people its an ice breaker some just like to flaunt their lack of knowledge about other cultures and i really shouldnt let it bother me.... theres not much iconic things to hungary i can play up but the accent and when i do people try to talk to me in russian and try convince me its the same thing. anyway considering i lie to them about my name, age, course of study, sexual preference, area i live, hair colour/length im sure i can get away with lying about my heritage also without my conscience bothering me

    True True.

It's standard convo in the club and it just derails the sale.

So, I try to put out these small fires when I get them and turn the conversation back to lapdancing since that's how I make my money.

    Any questions?

It's not just standard in the club, it's a standard question for two people who just met in basically any situation.

People still ask me all the time, because I have a certain look, and no Southern US cadence to my speech. That's just life, and its an interesting question if you are a traveler and into cultures/languages like me.

I get this all the time, everyone asks where my "accent" is from. I just have a deep voice, yes I was born here! I hate when I tell people that and then they try to argue with me. "no, no you DO have an accent, I KNOW you arent from here" uhhh annoying.

I understand how you feel because I get the same sort of question from 60% of every customer I talk to, which is very annoying. Because of my exotic looks customers are always asking what is my ethnic background. It is really none of their business and I feel like I shouldn't have to tell them anything that pertains to what my heritage is or where my parents came from. Sometimes I try to brush it off and they keep pressing and obsessing about it.
