    Default At-Home Brazilian Waxing

i had a horrible experience with bikini waxing last week. my regular therapist wasnt available so this new chick really fucked up my whole day.
a regular 20min quick session all off, lasted 1.5hr and still was not done but i had enough. she kept breaking the wax and struggling pulling it off and tugging at my skin without removing any hair which made me agitated, sore, pissed off and 3/4 of the hair was still there. when i called it quits i had dry wax pieces still crumbled all over my bikini region sticking all the remaining hair together.

anyway, long story short, i dont feel like going back to a salon for waxing again ever and i dont like to shave there so i bought an at home hot wax kit and givin it a try.

    anybody else waxing at home?

I'm sorry that happend to you, I also had a waxing disaster a year or so back (got burned ouch).
I tried to wax at home but it was so difficult , I need extra yoga classes lol.

In the end I found a new salon that did Lycon Waxing and carried on getting my waxes there - the new therapist is the best I've ever had.

Honestly if they did that to you then they can expect that reaction.
Just state catagorically "I never want that therapist again" and tell them to send her on a training course.
There's nothing to be ashamed off, it's your body and they should only allow qualified people to give you treatments.

Damn, sorry that happened, if they didn't know how to strip off the wax within the first try - I'd leave! I dont think this should make you stop going to get your waxes, you just landed on a newbie with little exp. Finding one who knows what their doing and has exp takes time, but basing it on price and place, it wouldnt be a problem to find a good one, plus you would know within the first seconds if they can or cannot do the job properly.

But going back to the topic, I used to get brazillian waxes professional, the place was awesome, the first girl did it with no pain on my first time and missed a few parts, another one got everything nicely with the regular pain, but they highered their price by 15 randomly that I decided to do my own. I bought a professional heater, a pot of wax, baby powder and cooling lotion.. If you bought those kits for ~10$, I wouldnt use it but buy what they use in the salon/spa. Anyway, it hurt like a bitch and Im good with pain. I tried about 3 times, 2 first tries went badly since I couldnt apply the wax properly with the cloth. My 3rd time, I only could do the bikini line, it hurt that bad. I suggest to take some advil or a pain killer before doing it. Knowing when your hand is going for the pull is the worst part, thats what I struggled with most. If someone else could pull it, it wouldnt be a problem for me, but I hated that and couldnt do a whole brazilian. When you do it yourself, apply the wax with the hair growth, put the cloth down the same direction, patting it the same way down, and pull the opposite way. Always hold the skin tight and hit it/hold it after the strip if pulled, it helps with pain. Good luck.

I am a professional esthetician. The problem with home waxing is not being able to get the proper angle to get the hair. Painless (or less painful) waxing has everything to do with the direction of growth, the angle that you pull and being able to hold the skin tight. It is pretty impossible to do yourself. Also the wax that comes in home kits just sucks and the quality of wax and strips makes a huge difference.

I think you just had a very new tech who was inexperienced. I remember doing my first bikini in the day spa and I had that poor girl in there for over an hour and she even bled, not a little, but a lot. It was awful. I made alot of mistakes because I didn't know better. Now I have it down to an art. It's just like hairdresser's. Some are truly gifted and others will just fuck you up.

You can try the home wax. I suppose it's worth a shot. But my advice would be to just keep going back to the girl who was doing it right in the first place and never let them stick you with someone else. Shave in between if you have to.

I used to get brazilian wax usually before i moved to the USA. It was only 15 dollar and ladies were too professional. If esthetician experienced well ,process doesnt hurt, if not there is a big pain u should expect. From my own experience in USA brazilian wax is so expensive and hard thing to find right esthetician ...

I used to do my own waxing, but could almost never get everything because getting the right angles and having the skin tight enough is nearly impossible by yourself (as said by lilmisssunshine). I have since gotten an epilator, which works a lot better. It's more painful than waxing, though, which is saying something.

I tried home waxing once. Ended up with the strips stuck to me because it was too painful even to peel them off.

Do let me know if there is a way to make it less painful!

I wax bikini line and the top part myself. The only kind of wax that works for me is the one without strips- The wax just dries on and then you rip the wax off. The sides are too painful tho
