Default Has bad economy affected your income?

I'm wondering if the economy is really as bad as the news is contiually telling us or if its just a lot of hot air.Has your personal income at the club
suffered, whereas a good nite used to be a certain amount and now a good nite is way below that.I've been hearing for months that Vegas was on its last legs and that all these people were losing jobs.I was in vegas
this past friday and the streets and casinos looked just as crammed full of
people as it always has.I went to the Rhino my favorite club in Vegas and
was charged a $40.00 cover fee.The place was standing room only and you could barely move. They have one VIP room where you get 3 dances for a $100 and there was a constant line perhaps 25 guys strong with their dancer waiting for someone to get finished so they could get their
dances. My dancer said she sometimes has to stand in line 30 minutes to
get a spot to do her dances. If clubs and dancers are suffering due to bad
    economy,i sure couldn't tell it this nite.It was a madhouse!So has your
income been affected or is the slowdown a myth?

Every dancer I know (including ones in Vegas) has been seriously affected by the bad economy. My personal income has been cut in half from what it was a few years ago. Clubs are like ghostowns around here. It's really been awful. That's not to say we don't have our good nights, but it's nothing like it used to be. It's really depressing when you think about it.

Yes! More dancers/less customers... most definitely. North Carolina has a very high unemployment rate so a lot of women are turning to dancing that would otherwise 'never' consider it. Clubs are devoid of life, even on weekends. House fees, of course, remain high and clubs pack in as many girls as possible... to maintain an image of being busy and to ensure at least SOME house fees are paid.

I would not recommend dancing in the Southeast right now. It seems to be one of the more 'impoverished' areas, and even veteran dancers seem to struggle.

The economy affected my other job ( sales ) and I started filling in gaps with strippin' in 2008.
Sometimes I wish I would have done it pre recession but what can I do now really?

Yeah, sometimes we forget but car salespeople, small business owners, and well... anyone in sales is struggling as well. In fact, the only job I've had during this recession that flourished and was constantly hiring was a collections department!

You'll get a much better perspective on this topic from dancers who have been in the industry longer. Without telling you when I started dancing I will tell you this:

I started at a really low end ghetto club & earned between $500-$800 per night before lap dancing was customary in the clubs where I worked. When I moved to San Francisco I regularly could earn $1,200+ a night.

A number of big things happened to the economy & our industry soon after I started. A few years later the dancers in my area were averaging $200/night. Then this recession hit, & many of them are now barely able to earn $100 - $150/night. I'm now starting to hear dancers that are happy to walk out with $60 -$80 after paying house fees! Meanwhile I guess I've been snobby because I about scoff at the idea of walking out will anything in those ranges. I love dancing, but unless the customers are super well behaved I am not going to be giving lap dances for $200/night. As a matter of fact I guess I'm a bit old school but I recently started doing taxi dancing, where customer pay the dancers to slow dance CLOTHED with them. I see more & more customers started to ask for this because many customers are no longer as amused with lap dances... there's too much supply. I can easily make the same amount at the local taxi dancing club that many girls are making giving lap dances.

Another member here on the pink side of SW has confirmed for me that she averaged $150/night for 6-7 hrs worth of work during the winter of 208-2009 in the same club that I used to average $500-$800.

Just to give you an idea of the changes that have taken place that the women from recent stripper generations have survived:

    1. The change from the shows being stage only, to table dancing, to lap dancing (some of us did see that)

    2. When the stock market crashed after 911 - I don't think I know a single dancer back then who wasn't effected. Everyone was complaining about the money being bad.

    3. When company credit cards could no longer be used in strip clubs as a "business expense".

    4. "Extras" becoming more common place in the clubs... before customers would have paid lots of money just for the chance to have dinner with a dancer OTC.

    5. Social changes: women are wilder in regular night clubs (where I am we have jello wrestling between girls in mainstream clubs) & swinging has become VERY common.

    6. The current recession - which out of all the things I've listed I'd say that one has had the LEAST effect.

With that said, I can still make money in this industry & I know I am making a lot more than most. However, the good clubs are few & far between.
    Don't you ever sleep?
Not at night...that's when the stars have rather better things to do. They're coming out, shining, that sort of thing.

Yes. All of those things you listed are definitely affecting us. I forgot to even mention the part about women being wilder/swinging. Stripping is no longer 'taboo' and every girl turning 18 wants their own pole!
