Default Looking to start sun-tanning. Tomorrow.

Alright, so my big sis is getting married in a week and a half and I have a gorgeous dress I wanna wear... problem is, the dress is ivory white, and I'm pale, with uneven skintone on my arms.

Spray tan is out of the question. This dress is too nice, and spray tans always always ALWAYS rub off of me and onto my clothes, no matter how dry I am. Plus I'll be outdoors and I'll be sweating so that'll only exacerbate the problem.

So I'm looking to start sunbathing. Like, tomorrow. I don't get enough sun as it is anyway, and a little bit of sun every day is healthy for you. Just 15 minutes of good sun exposure can give you your daily amount of vitamin D.

Thing is, I've never tanned before, I am pale, and don't really know where to start. This is my plan to start with, tell me how it is:

I'm using Banana Boat's Dry Oil Spray, 8 spf (read good reviews on it). Planning on applying it all over, baking about 8-10 minutes on each side. Once I get back inside, I'll coat myself in Palmer's Cocoa Butter (<3), let that soak, and then shower about an hour or so later.

And of course I don't plan on becoming a sun diva. I'm a nerd, dammit. I avoid sunlight like the plague. I just need a little contrast so I can wear some white and not look weird.

You could try rocking one of the tanning accelerator lotions by California Tan or one of the other brands. I use these outdoors when I'm laying out (even though they're made for tanning beds). I like the Step 2 products by California Tan for quick results:

    http://www.californiatan.com/products/step-2/

Make sure you don't use anything with "heat" action or "hot" action in it, or you will go lobster red. Some are formulated with cinnamon (or is it nutmeg? can't remember which), but it will make you're skin super reactive, but not in a pretty tan way, just burnt.

Some have self-tanner built in, so you can start building your base faux tan, but it's not like spray tan where it will rub off.

I'm no expert, but I find that tanning when the sun is the highest in the sky and/or tanning on water (like on a dock) makes me tan the quickest. And I also use Banana Boat's tanning oil

I bought that Maui Babe browning outdoor tan lotion that I found out about from here and I like it, it has coffee in it, so it gives your infuses your skin with some subtle brown pigment. I bought it at Bed Bath and Beyond of all places. It's a little too subtle for me, but may be perfect for you.

Be very careful with maui babe if you are a naturally pale person. I used it once in Hawaii and ended up badly burned after just a few minutes. It was just too much for my skin type. It does smell great and leaves your skin really smooth though!

This thread inspired me to order Melanotan II aka "jab-a-tan". I just ordered it, can't wait to start!

I've considered using jab-a-tan but I'm not sure how confident I'd feel giving myself a shot.

Just be careful with lotion afterwards. Especially if you get a bit pink. Its a myth that lotions including aloe vera sooth the skin after. Well they might sooth it, but they also create a barrier trapping the heat absorbed into the skin and continuing to cook it after you get out of the sun... I dont go in the sun myself and haven't for years, but when I did I never ever put lotion on until I was sure I hadn't burned at all. I used to use that Banana Boat stuff too and loved it.

kind of off topic but isn't kind of rude to wear a white dress to a wedding??

It's more of an off-white Ivory and my sister is going totally non-traditional with this wedding. It's going to be out in the country, my sister's wearing a silver dress (I was originally going to get a silver dress until I heard this), and the reception is going to be a family barbecue. She said she doesn't care what anyone wears, so long as SHE didn't have to wear white.

Also, wearing-white-at-weddings varies by region, and around here, it's okay to wear white so long as it doesn't look bridal and it doesn't compete with the bride's dress.

JUST FOR REFERENCE: Here's a (shitty cell-phone) picture of the dress that I took while I was in the dressing room.

Yes, I plan on wearing contacts, yes I plan on doing my hair pretty, yes I plan on wearing makeup.

I think it makes my tits look AWESOME

Also, I just texted my sister for clarification on the dress color. Her response?

"Since when do I give a flying rat's ass about convention? FUCK NO don't exchange that dress it looks great!"

Hey, I was just checking! I'm getting married tomorrow and thats what I have heard. I had a friend that wanted to be a bitch at her bro's wedding and wore a very beautiful white long dress because she wanted to piss off the bride.

Yeah I may have overreacted in my defense, sorry. I've had a couple other people call me out for it as well and they were extremely venomous about it (not on here, in real life)

    Congrats on your wedding!

That dress does make your boobs look amazing! Are you seeing or feeling results from your workouts yet? I have a different workout for you when you're ready to switch it up.

Did you start tanning in that picture or not yet? Cause I think that the tone of your skin and the color of the dress look nice together, that I think you dont need to tan. With a nice pair of heels and you're set!

No I hadn't started tanning in that pic yet. Keep in mind that I was under dressing room lights in that pic as well, so it does look a little darker.
