    Lightbulb Dancing like an amateur

I haven't danced on stage in awhile Because normally i'll pay to be off stage. Recently, that is no longer an option. Where can I get stage ideas from? I tried youtube BTW I've been dancing off and on for 8 yrs. I just look weird and awkward lately.

awww... you will feel less awkward soon. I felt so awkward when I first went back to dancing after a 3 year break. I could not remember any of my moves and I felt like a tool. It really depends on the style of your club. More information would help.. How do the other girls dance? What's the stage set up? How many customers usually tip on the stage?

The stage set up is two large, extra thick poles. (You can't do pole work) and most of the girls dance high energy. The customers surround the stage. It's full on the weekends. The customers come up on slow nights to tip.

I'd suggest taking some classes, they are really the best way to learn. If your area doesn't have striptease classes then look into jazz classes.

I was going to say since most the girls are high energy, maybe try the slow sensual thing instead. It would make you stand out. Plus from what guys tell me they like high energy from really professional feature shows but for just tipping they like slow and sensual because they can actually see your body. How think are these poles? There are some really nice turns you can do around the pole without climbing it or doing any trick per se...

Check out this vid... she has some advanced tricks (just ignore those) but look at the little turns (not spins) and body rolls she does you could maybe do them around a thick pole http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Saks4JkZXZ8

    Floor work - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MnkRenx90D0

    Just dancing - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yYgHnwEnRWI

Try to come up with a bit of a routine... nothing too choreographed just something you can practice and practice at home in front of a mirror.

Also if you can't choose your music, you can dance sensual to any kind of music. It just takes practice.

If you have a friend or BF who can give you some feedback it will really help and soon you'll be confident again.

Trust me girl I am the same! I go back to work tonight after my BA and I'm very stiff, weak and awkward with these boobs in the way LOL. I should look interesting. Of course one or two drinks also helps but more than that hurts. I definitely dance better after 2 drinks though.

These days, I feel awkward, and I've been dancing for 4 years!! I just started at a new club where the girls actually entertain (we don't have room to do floor work), and I feel behind! They can do all kinds of things that I'm not accustomed to doing yet. My whole stripper ed has been in floor work, and suddenly I can't dance that way anymore.

Just watch the other girls at work and try to adopt their movements one at a time. Don't be an obnoxious copycat or anything, but pay attention to them!

Also, if you feel silly, just smile huge and have fun with it. Sometimes it's not a bad thing to look a little amateur-ish!

If anyone comments that you look green, just say "Yeah, I guess stage just isn't my thing. You know what is? Private dances."

eh. a lot of guys like that. just don't admit that you've been doing it for a while. pretend you really are new. or maybe you did it when you were younger, and you lost your job so you had to do something to pay the bills til the economy picks up.

i like the new girl thing, because then you can do little tricks badly and act like you expect tips. the guys might not tip, but at least they won't think you're a pushy bitch. they'll think you're a cute new girl who doesn't know how to hustle yet.
-love everyone but keep them far from your soul-

Haha - just wait until you end up at a club with a podium style stage that has no pole, & doesn't allow floor work! That's a real education!

BTW, Alena could make dancing on a burned down tree look good. She oozes sensuality.
