I just got my old job back with a law office after being laid off for the summer, but I intend on dancing again alsoI am still waiting to see how that with come out....

Why do you need a "cover". Stop wasting your time as a hostess. Go to school or start a business.
If you're already dancing naked why would you bother doing anything else? I think for women who have careers like nursing or real estate, or a solid 9 to 5 are okay dancing on the weekends.I don't know if I'm okay with stripping being my only job and income source.
Do you plan on being promoted from hostess anytime soon? To doing what?
Tell people you are a student living off loans and savings. It's really none of their business.
i usually have a second, and sometimes a third job.
i can get burned out too easily when it's just me, and the strip club, day after day. i hate uncertainty; i like regular paychecks. but there is no denying, no customer service job will pay what stripping can bring in.
i usually at least have some gig work on the side.
I always had a 9-5. Not a shitty job, but not lucrative either. My last was a secretarial role where I got paid to answer phones and do maybe two hours work a day and play on the interwebz the rest of the time. I made about 30k a year when I quit back in early 04....so I loved it for the pocket change and full bennies.
"I hear you calling and it's needles and pins. I wanna hurt you just to hear you screaming my name...You're poision. but I don't wanna break these chains.... I wanna love you but I'd better not touch."

I've always been some sort of a self employed person, so I say I'm a freelance promotional model, if someone ask. Also, I do my own taxes, and every expense that's related to dancing, and/or computers, is a write-off since is an operational expense. I'm also a systems administrator, so I get to work with computers too. I'm working on my certifications, and getting more money to resume college (I have like 40 credits left).
However, I don't see myself quiting dancing in the near future. Is my workout, and my passion.

I work as a secretary full time. I'm not dancing yet but am hoping to on Tuesday (amateur night) if my gown arrives in the mail and fits!

I wish. but now that I make so much stripping I wouldn't settle for less than 12 dollars an hour and that's pretty hard to find with no degrees or real job experience haha. I mean, I've had retail jobs and stuff but nothing that would qualify me for a high paying position
^ Yeah, I think that that is what makes stripping so addictive. It's not so much the environment as it is the fact that you can A) Work at Starbucks for 40 hours a week and make $300 or B) Work in the SC for 8 hours and make $500.
Thank goodness I'll have a degree/work experience so I'll have other options. Otherwise I think I'd be a lifer. (Which I am not cut out to be)

I used to work as a house cleaner, baby sitter and dog sitter.
All three are now my stripper cover up stories.

I work in my Dad's office doing a bunch of random stuff. Mostly computer related. I put together their website, I'm working on a database for them, and I do some accounting stuff in Quickbooks.
It's kind of frustrating because I have almost zero experience doing most of these (except the website thing) so I'm kind of just learning as I go, but I work in an office with a bunch of old dudes who don't know shit about technology. They come at me with weird or complicated requests, and then expect me to just be able to do it like I invented computers or something.
It can be a pain, but its for my Dad so I can't really say no. I get paid $10 an hour, which isn't bad, and it's really laid back so I get away with a lot.
I work for myself selling insurance. Right now, I am focusing on the senior market, people 65 and older. I LOVE it! It's so refreshing to deal with sweet old people who are not constantly commenting on my looks or men trying to hit on me. I sell Medicare supplements, Medicare Advantage Plans, life insurance, final expense, long term care, and annuities. Most insurance agents I have met are fat slobs, so I definitely stand out and have an advantage, being the young pretty agent. Right now I am making more than I ever did stripping, and I used to BANK stripping. I worked in Vegas, New Orleans, all over Texas, etc., and I wish I would've started this sooner.
Don't get me wrong, I go into work every once in a while, or take strategically planned strip trips in cities where conventions are going on, but I will never again be a full time stripper, that was way too stressful! All the booze, and I was starting to develop a hate for men.
I used to work at retail for a cover but I had to quit! My boss was giving me like freakin 30 hours a week and I'm only getting paid minimum wage and I was in school too! Sooo once day I just left cause I was making so little money for how hard I was working.
But now my cover for my parents is a job at the student center at my school I only get like 10 hours a week at the most but I don't want anymore so I can focus more on dancing. ;-)

jd, you seem really happy with your new job. i'm happy for you =)

I'm a full time student (can't wait to be done) and I don't cover up for stripping.... except to my parents and family lol. But to all of my friends/people at school, I don't hide it. There's no reason to. It's not shameful or illegal so why cover it up?
It is a good conversation starter anyways, haha.
