    Default too muscular

hey girls! I've had this problem forever, I am just too muscular. I know some people like that look but I absolutely hate it! Nobody believes me, not even personal trainers at the gym when I tell them I refuse to do certain exercises cause I'll bulk up. I swear I did 5 push-ups 5 days last weeks, around 25 each time (as part of a new routine) and I bulked up. I get muscle so fast, it's ridiculous and customers say mean comments.
My problem is I want to lose weight and obviously it works better and faster with exercise but I look like a body builder, plus I'm kinda chubby right now, so I look like these body builder women that are still chunky really awful...
Do you think it's what I eat? I'm thinking I eat too much, and too much protein..

Sometimes your body's natural reaction to wieghtlifting/body weight excercises is to retain water, which delivers protien and nutrients to the muscles. This goes away after a few weeks, once your body gets used to a routine. I say give it a little while to get your body adjusted and then your muscles will start burning the extra fat away (even when you aren't working out).
Women tipically don't have the hormones to bulk up too much, unless you are taking lots of supplements, so don't give up just yet

I have this problem with my arms. I am limiting the type of lifting to 2 and going the lightest weight I can to still have tension. Trying to focus more exercises in my abdomen and lower body. Also up your cardio: running, jumping rope, etc. to lose muscle.

Good luck. It's tough to find the right balance.

Well, I have this problem myself (made much worse by intense pole dancing) so I'm not much use to you in reducing the muscle.

But as far as dealing with customers, you can throw it right back at them. It's much easier if you have a dominant personality. I used to say shit like, "I could throw you around like a rag doll!" I would also flex on request. Some guys would go from teasing me to being impressed and wanting to arm wrestle. . . .

thanks guys, the problem is it's not recent, I've been consistently working out for years now, but I do notice that especially push ups bulk me up really bad. I'll just try reducing my protein and sticking with a diet. I hate it when customers say something like: whoa you are soo big. One guy literally thought I was on steroids, crazy...

Try backing off on the weights and increasing your cardio...burns tons of fat/calories without bulking.

I am trying but for some reason it's in the back of my mind that everybody says: you need to do weights too to lose weight. I've come to think that my body just works differently.. I think I'll do more cardio until I am close to my goal weight and then do some weights too.

AND I THOUGHT I WAS THE ONLY ONE LIKE THIS???
Have you always been muscular? I have this issue myself. I remember people seeing my calves and asking me if I run or used to run track in high school. I don't know what increases muscle mass, I assume it could be hormonal. My arms and legs have been muscular since I was 12 (puberty age??)
As far as customers saying mean comments, well fuck em' they are just mean people and would proly say something nasty about someone who had no muscle and was a size 1-2??
My weight has gone up and down a great deal over the years, but the muscle was always there and when I was in better shape, I just embraced it. I wish I could offer better advice about the losing weight and perhaps toning "down" muscle mass but that's not my speciality; however, I can understand the unexplained muscle mass body thing...

Running is so good for you and it doesn't make you bulk up. I am careful with my exercises as well. For example, I do not overwork my obliques because that could give my more of a squared off appearance.

Don't increase your weights when you become stronger. Instead, wait more days before you hit that same muscle again. Atrophy, starts to set in after 2 days, but you might want to wait 3-4. Stick with low weights and high reps.

Run, abs, and try not to do so many pushups as much as just hold yourself in the pushup position for a while. The tension is still good for your arms.
