    Default Fired for no reason!!!

    Ladies,

I am hysterical right now. I've been working at the Men's Club of Charlotte quiet some time now. We have this young manger named Carlos who is constantly power tripping. He wasn't liked in high school so since he became manager of the strip club, he became this big douche who does what he can to give people a hard time. I do not respect this guy as a person or a manager and I'm waiting for the day that karma comes back to him 3x.

He recently fired me because he claims that I promised to meet a customer for money after work. I actually understand how he came about this, because a guy was waiting outside for me claiming he wants to take me for breakfast- he was obviously drunk. Carlos then fired me.

I came back to talk to a different manager about this- because I am totally innnocent. The other manager pretty much told me that Carlos said that I said "Times are tough, Ill do what I can to make money." WHICH IS NOT TRUE AT ALL. Long story short, I'm not given a second chance. And I did absolutly nothing wrong. And if you know Charlotte, there is no other club other than Uptown Caberet- and they are not hiring. Thse two are the only decent clubs in this town. The others are seriously roach infested, straight up ghetto.

I dont know what to do.

    Can you travel?

Sorry to hear about your trouble. Managers can really be dicks sometimes, especially if they are deep down insecure people--as they so often are in stripclubs it seems. God knows I have dealt with some real morons. Here in the Keys they seem to be better, in general, though I have had a bit if trouble in the past.

This business is not known for job security. Best if you can travel, especially for the dancers (it's a little harder to get hired as a DJ since they only need 2-3 per club as opposed to 10-100 dancers).

Anyway good luck, hang in there!

Unfortunately there isn't really a good answer to this. You could threaten to sue, & you might be your job back but the managers wouldn't like you. Is the club privately owned? If so, you could try talking to the owner.

I think traveling or private dancing may be your best option right now.

I'd be very careful about threatening legal action, especially in certain clubs. Far better to just get the hell away from that place from the sounds of it.

You might be able to sue Carlos for slander. A lawyer could tell you how good your chances of winning would be.

Oh I meant anywhere but there, lol! But there are a lot worse places than the Keys.

This summer is definitely slower than last though. And we are about to hit a slow month or so now. Then FantasyFest which is great for two weeks. I know one thing, we are beating Daytona and Orlando all to hell right now.

If you can travel you should check out special events in other cities, that's the best money even if competition is heavier as well--then maybe try the Keys in late October, if you are still looking.

Try the Gentlemen's Club. I tried to do Men's Club but they turned me down for no reason! I can't remember the manager I spoke to, but he was super rude.

    I second that !!!

A - as an independent contractor and not an employee, management doesn't NEED any reason to 'fire' you.

B - some clubs have a LOT more to hide than what goes on in the VIP room ... and might be willing to go to GREAT lengths to prevent the gov't from 'poking around' in their affairs !

C - even if a lawsuit were to successfully be brought, imagine how a straight-laced local judge or a local jury consisting of housewives, retirees, civil servants etc. would view the 'he said - she said' evidence. On the one side is the word of a 'stripper' claiming that she did nothing 'wrong'. On the other side is the word of a club manager who ostensibly fired a 'stripper' as she was preparing to begin an OTC encounter with a club customer in the club's parking lot at closing time.

yeah, i was looking to move to florida anyway
good move ! It sucks that you have become the latest victim of the stripper stereotype allowing dancers to be treated as 'guilty into proven innocent'. However you are certainly not the first, and unfortunately you will not be the last ! On the brighter side, at least you were bogusly fired and not bogusly busted !!! Thus you are free to 'walk away' without having to worry about court appearances, fine money, or a criminal record !

This is true. Also, some states are 'right to work' states and they can fire anyone for any reason. I was fired in GA from a 'normal' job because they thought I was going to join the military. A lot of places that's illegal, but not all. I don't think NC is like that however.

Also, may I suggest private party dancing? I hate Charlotte clubs. This is like... the worst state I have danced in.

Lying about someone to get them fired is still a civil offense. The only question is whether or not it can be proven.

more than likely, carlos. the other managers are very professional and respectful. i mean, they have pissed me off before but i respect them. carlos on the other hand, is total TRASH...im not saying this cuz he fired me for no reason, i just never respected the guy. hes nastier than a roach.

charlotte is one of the places i've thought of moving. why do you hate dancing there? what's so bad about the clubs?

There's just no money here anymore. The economy hit really hard, not to mention the clubs take cuts of all your dances etc. It just hasn't been enjoyable.
