    Default Alertpay Business Account

Ok quick question about the alertpay business account. For the ladies that used this one in order to keep your privacy, when verifyiing your account they ask for proof of business ownership. What the heck did you girls use??? I chose media entertainment instead of adult industry because I had a paranoid feeling they may flag the account. Anyway. For the camgirls/dommes/etc using the business account what proof of ownership documentation did you use???? I have no ownership documentation, I'm just me. I could downgrade to the personal pro account but then I lose the privacy because it shows my real name and I won't be able to put nifty "buy here" buttons on my website. Any ideas?

If you classify yourself as a sole proprietor, then they don't need proof of ownership. There is a way to do this in the verification process but I can't remember exactly how. Email support. They helped me get it set up this way when I had the exact same question that you do.

Oh cool. Well then I will email support and double check because when I was upgrading to business account I said I was the sole propirter, hmm. I just read something from them on a different site tht said you only need to verify your business account if you want to SEND money as well. But I don't, I just want to recieve it and deposit it into my bank account. They have daily limits on wire transfers if you dont verify but that's ok because it's unlimited if it's a cheque. Thank you very much for everyone's help with this!

Alertpay allows adult, is not true that alertpay close all accounts found working for adult. But take bigger fee for adult accounts because is higher risk, so if someone open account as non adult stuff then they find out they have right to be upset and close or so.
Also I believe adult is possible only in business account and not in personal but I am not 100% sure of it because I am biz and never used personal.

    From alertpay pages:

    ------
    * Seller involved adult content must open a Business account and choose the ADULT category for their business.
Adult "Regulated" category must be verified and pay fees associated with this account type.
non adult fee 2.5% + $0.25 per trans
    ADULT FEE:
    3.90 % + $0.59 USD for receiving funds from e-wallet
6.40 % + $0.59 USD for receiving funds by credit card
    ------

It seems they want biz account AND chose adult category AND bill higher fee, then they will not flag or shut down you.
If you open personal AND chose non adult category AND bill cheap fee, and theu find out is adult, they'll hate you I think.

I'm looking to do the same thing... were you able to get approved without proof? I was going to get a business registration which is $100 as proof.... but I don't want to go through that process because I wouldn't need it for anything else but alertpay.

Verifying a credit card isn't mandatory. I told them I didn't have one and they said just verify your bank account and phone number. I've been holding off using alertpay for months because I thought I needed a business registration. I just went and selected sole proprietor, I do not have tax/business registration documents and then bammm it said you are now verified. I'm could of been verified this whole time and ranking in dough (errr kinda of pissed about that).... yea so thanks Juliette25, I could kiss you right now lol.

Aperantly you are only allowed to do it once. But then tech support said try again.BUt my account wont let me try again. So I had to write tech support back and I'm still aiting. I really dont want to have to print off the papers and get a lawyer so sign them to justify my existance what a fucking hassle. And probably expensive.

When did you guys do yours? I think the complete verification is quite new as they have a little blurb when you log on about "Due to regulations...blah bla blah... all business accounts must now be completely verified before....blah blah blah"

I was verified a while ago, but they closed my account (and were very rude to me) when I put Alertpay buttons on my blog, due to fetish content. I hope it works out for you, though!

I've seen alot of fetish girl/dommes and some glamour models use alertpay on there websites. When did this happen to you? Now I'm thinking about having a backup payment processor lol.

Did they approve your site first? I know they have an approval process to be able to accept payment from your site that way.

sorry to bump this, but if you were having difficulty on how to manually upgrade to sole proprietor:

"If you have a Personal Pro account and want to upgrade to a Business account:

    1. Login to your AlertPay account.
    2. Click on "Profile".
    3. Under "Personal", click on "Upgrade Account".
    4. Under “Business Account”, click on "Upgrade Now".
    5. Enter your 'Business Information' as requested.
    6. Click on "Submit".

If you are the sole proprietor of your business, you can submit a tax/registration document, if applicable. If you do not have this document, the regular verification procedures will suffice.

Follow these instructions to set your business account to “Sole Proprietor”:

    1. Click on "Become Verified".
    2. Under "Business Submissions", select "Corporation Documentation" and click "Next".
    3. In step 2, Select "Sole Proprietorship" and click "Next".
    4. In step 3, uncheck "tax/registration document", check "I do not have any tax/registration documents" and click "Next".
    5. In step 4, Click "Finish"."

Test out requesting a payment to yourself. Your stage name should be all that comes up: "[Stripper Web Rockstar] is requesting $1.00"

Also, I told them flat out that its for adult purposes (they will take out a higher percentage, so its best to ensure they know this off the bat... categorize yourself this way on the site off the bat, and even create a paper trail by contacting admin), I do fetish and told them this in advance.

I haven't been flagged yet, but I made a point of stressing that although some of the content and transactions are "fetish" related and even "non-nude fetish" related, it does not violate US obscenity laws. If you're filing as a business, you should also have an adult content & 2257 model notice on your site where AlertPay is being used or they'll get (understandably) pissed as all adult companies have this. Blogspot's "adult content" warning is not enough.

If you do fetish or display any hardcore content on your site, its useful to be familiarized with some of the best practices listed here for adult websites:
    http://www.asacp.org/index.php?content=best_practices

Some of it is overkill, but fetish is usually more targeted in this business than other kinds of adult entertainment... and payment processors do not want to be named in any lawsuit.

If you are in the US, what processors seem to care about are the 2257 notice, adult content warnings, you hinting at being underage (even if you stress you're 18+ - including adjectives like: young, barely legal, baby, little girl, will make them understandably uneasy), incest, and bodily functions.

That all being said: I immediately deposit all funds sent. I have an alert sent to my phone in case I am away from my computer to process the transactions. I don't make enough yet to be a big flag, but no precaution is too much?

This site: http://www.ynot.com/ also lists some other processors for adult sites & gives generally decent business info and recommendations.

If you're paranoid about legalese stuff & fetish & payment processors, like I am (I don't want any of my funds seized when I am behaving, to the best of my knowledge, legally) I contacted a local free legal services group plus one of my local law universities to ask what I should say to them... the law school responded faster (a few weeks), probably because it wasn't a run of a mill question and adult law may be more exciting for a law student. They suggested pretty much everything I wrote above (2257 notice, adult content warnings, tell processor what you're doing, give them your website so they can review it, find out best practices for adult websites). If you have more questions, free legal advice is probably available in your nearest city - the turnaround just may be slow or you'll get a side eye, but try the next resource.

Its not expert advice, but it can't hurt.

    Good luck!

For business accounts they ask you to verify by 2 methods - so yes, SMS is one, but you'll need a followup one for business accounts (can be credit card, bank account, etc.), if you'd rather verify off the grid - have a GreenDot card as that'll work also.

It'll take a few days for all verification codes to come through and to finalize your upgrade... which is my cautionary warning since I once tried to loop a customer in and didn't wait until my verification was 100% complete, and poof, after being too eager to send a money request - he had my full legal name... and my legal name is very, uh, ethnic (aka most google hits of my real name are me).

    Yea.

If you're not paranoid about that kind of thing, go for it.

If you are, do both forms of verification and wait until you can "test" that the business account is in effect.

Bear in mind that the fee to withdraw funds in your account to your CC or Debit card costs more for business accounts than personal, also it is cheaper to do a bank deposit if you're based in the US ($0.50 each).... for a credit card deposit it is... a few dollars I think. It takes 3-4 business days to clear or send for any method of payment (they even send money orders too if you really want to be off the grid).
