    Default Update on Streamate HD

    Hi Ladies,

I know I've started threads on streaming HD on streamate and there are other threads on this too.

But its time for an updated thread on this.

Has anyone that was not streaming in HD on Streamate before (just streaming reg.)..made the switch over to streaming in HD now on Streamate?

If so, did you go out and buy a new computer/laptop to do this?
Secondly, have you noticed and increase in traffic and $$?

    Thanks!!

    xoxo

I switched when I got a new cam about a month ago that would play nice with FME, and yes, I get much better traffic and $$$ now since I'm usually on the first page.

    Thanks!!!

ps..are you working on a dual core or higher processor laptop/pc to stream in HD too?

I use the pro 9000 with flash media encoder and it works great. I did notice more traffic once I started streaming in HD but I've been HD most of my time there so not much of a comparison to make.

login to your account as usual. And then you'll see the white tabs at the top.
    Home, My Reports, Support.

    Click on the Support tab.

    Then click on HD Instructions.
Then follow its directions..it will be a big grayish black page it takes you to that say's Wanna Make More Money.

    What dancing queen said above^

You use Adobe Flash Media Encoder and instead of cable T1 you'll use 'external encoding'.

Hi pushit69. Not sure why that is. You may want to ask streamate support about that.
When you're camming and you enable that little audio button sometimes it helps to click it twice.

    Hope that helps.

thanks! i dunno i just signed up today so i'm still getting the hang of it! I dunno if its effecting my traffic or not but I'm really disappointed with streamate after hearing such great things about the traffic. What's normal traffic there user wise? I had no more than 6 ever in my freechat room and one show that was like less than 5 mins . ((((((

Have you ever cammed before? I am a total newbie and the only clue I have is what I've read here, lol! Good Luck!

    Hey,

I have the new logitech pro c910 and it works perfectly with Flash Media Encoder (FME), and it's HD. Used to use the IPEVO and a sep. microphone, and FME refused to work with them and FME just crashed constantly.

I have my Mac partitioned and I'm running Boot Camp so that I can use the dang camera (it's PC-only - although I just read something about it working on Mac with certain drivers).

I am working on a dual-core processor, yes.

Good luck with it. I hate the hassle of using FME, and sometimes I hate the way it makes me look, but I get more people in my room, and with more people wanting time with me, I can choose the more interesting ones.

Spacecowgirl, the HD thing can be high maintenance with that FME. Well..I tried the HD thing my desktop computer. But I need to use my laptop because I do in a diff part of my house. Taking the big ass desktop to my other room is waaay too much work. I'm gonna see how it works on the single core processor with out trying to over heat my computer/cpu.

I will say when I tried that HD thing for just one hour...I did see more people coming in and out fast. But I was so much bigger on my screen and more they could see more of my room (which I wasn't wanting them to see necessarily). It was weird and I was trying to respond to people/see what I look like/read what people where posting. Its a little weird going from screen to screen. I guess it takes some adjusting.

Its just weird to see one's self in HD when you're just use to your lil screen that you had before.

Oh well. Well I'm gonna try this HD. And thank you for letting me know about your camera. Glad to hear that you're banking!

    xoxo

Yeah, try it, see what happens. It's high-maintenance, for sure.

I use it and got more traffic with it. I had a dual core laptop and it was using just over 80 percent of my processor speed. OUCH. I do have a new smokin computer so that isn't a problem anymore. I use the logitech 9000 for now.

I had a hard time getting use to my screen, but now I have a routine.
I open FME, Open my streamate file. Make sure my cam is where I want it, then I set my picture to 50 %. I then open IE and make sure it is as far right of my screen as possible. I make sure FME is as far left. I then start my show, cut and paste code, hid the green start button, then I collapse the data on FME with the little arrow just to the left of the encoding option tab. Then all i see is my webcam. I quickly drag my FME to the far left of my screen so the edge of my video is the edge of my screen. This allows me to see my streaming video on the left, and the streamate page on the right of the screen. Works well as long as I set it up before sigining on. Would be nice to have two screens. HEHE.

I notice that since I began using HD, I get many more people into my private (group) shows at once since I get better placement on the site.

I've been trying to get HD to work but it keeps freezing up on me. I'll fiddle with it some more today. I really can't stand the fact that I have to toggle through two windows but if it means more privates and more $$$ I guess I'll just have to deal with it.

I tried it again and it worked -- unfortunately, my guests kept saying that my cam kept freezing. Either my computer or my internet connection isn't up to snuff.

    Oh well.

    Hi Smurfette
I had similar problems when I started with FME

What is your internet speed upload and download on speedtest.net ?
I checked my speed anytime someone told me I had a problem and wala, it was speed! I changed internet providers and am now good. I also NEVER go through a router. I go directly via my cable modem to my computer via eithernet. Routers can screw up your signal.

Have you checked your processor usage? If you are over 80% there will be problems, but you can adjust!
    This is from Streamate... instructions...
[4. Tips - Make sure to check your CPU usage after your begin streaming. Your CPU usage should NOT exceed 80% or your video quality will suffer.

If your CPU is over 80%, lower your bitrate value in the encoder until you see the CPU below 80%.

To check your CPU usage on Microsoft Windows, click the Ctrl + Alt + Delete buttons simultaneously and select the performance tab.

To check your CPU usage on Mac OS, open the Activity Monitor. Your CPU usage will be the total of User and System. ]

Hmmm I just changed the setting to HD while I was camming and it happily went to a higher resolution and said it was broadcasting in HD and I got double the traffic. I never downloaded the FME. So should I download it and try to do HD for real or should I just be happy with what I have?
