    it sucks how the only way in sydney you can have a decent place is if youre over 35 or a business professional, or have a proper job at least. i guess 'waitress ' doesnt cut it anymore.
    so the only ones left are privately owned like my current one where my landlord doesnt do shit except raise the rent and try put us on a lease.

    i want a decent place while im studying and dancing.

    too much to ask?

    Do you file taxes? I'm not surprised you can't get a place with a job as a waitress, but if you dance, and make good money - then file taxes. You'll be a small business owner on paper, and you'll be able to apply for a mortgage (or buy a home outright it you save enough).

    I feel your pain though. It's friggin' hard to find a place to live in general. Add in a job like dancing or waiting tables and it's impossible, no landlord wants you!.

    i havent been dancing for a year yet [on paper] so i dont have the accountant statement and total of past year, i have invoices from the club [i picked all the ones where i had good nights]

    i guess its easier to buy once you have the money.50k upfront and the rest costs the same as renting anyway except its going towards something.

    now to come up with 50 k

    Sydney prices are insane. There are worrying signs of a US-style housing bubble too (Though different capital requirements for banks and the tying of mortgages to people is different to in the US)

    I blame the tax system. If you have spare money, the tax deductability of investment property stuff means you need to join in on the pyramid scheme to avoid being left behind.
