Default Dermal fillers in San Francisco?

    Hi, everyone!

I'm on the prowl for a good doctor in San Francisco or a nearby city who kicks ass with dermal fillers. Specifically for lips (though I imagine I'll have the leftovers shot into something or other on my face ).

I did find a Tammy Foster MD listed who has relatively good rates ($480/syringe of Juvaderm), but she also has a scant three review on Yelp. And since the skill of the doc means the difference between my mouth looking luscious and awesome or duckish and terrifying, I want to be sure.

I've read all the threads here about fillers, and I'm wondering if you guys see a difference in skill with doctors who have "special deals". Do the places that advertise 30% off the second syringe or things like that tend to be worse than the super expensive places? Or does expensive not necessarily equal better?

Thanks for reading, and nice to meet you all.

don't look at price. look at results, then look at price.
ne wary of the first ten people who pop up on google. they pay to be there. doesn't mean they are simply the most sought after.
i don't know how san francisco is, but in ny, a lot of doctors have to pay enormous rents to have offices in fancy parts of town. so they do things like interviews with magazines, and call themselves celebrity surgeons, and they pop up on google more and more. these people have good marketing machines.
your best bet is to go by word of mouth.
and if that fails, use google and make phone calls, say you're interested in ______________ and see what the receptionist has to say. if a receptionist can't sell me, i don't bother. they should make you feel like you are the only person that matters, like there is nothing they would rather be doing but helping you get facial injections, etc. if you don't get that tingle inside of you, move on.

and start small. if you like the one syringe of whatever, you can always get more. if you don't like the injector, you can always go home and cry about it without it being too noticeable.

you're going to have trouble finding negative reviews because a lot of doctors are making patients sign non-disclosure agreements. meaning, i cannot tell you which doctor fucked my face up, how no one should go to him, how he doesn't deserve a license, etc. because he will take legal action against me.

so part of word of mouth is that it's also the only way we really have now to criticize these doctors. they will remove negative reviews about them from youtube, yelp, makemeheal, etc.

but a couple of things can help you narrow your search: look for someone who does injections all day long. my last injector was wonderful because that's all she does. every day. 9-5. so that increases the likelihood that she'll be responsive to your requests, and that your injections will be done properly.

Camille, thank you SO much. That's great advice. And yes, I'm planning to do this very conservatively to start, so that I'm not too fucked if they don't do a good job.
