I just wanted to share my experience with DIY vitamin C serum. After reading RAVE reviews for it on makeupalley.com I decided to make my own. My last tube of Environ Vit C serum was ruined after I accidently left it in my hot car and at around $100 per tube I didn't want to shell out for another one even though I love the stuff.
For my at home "serum" I used Vitamin Shoppe Vitmin C crystals and water, mix them into a paste, and put it on my skin. I do not wash it off. Mine is not actually a serum because I do not put the pure vegetable glycerine in my mixture as some recipes call for. I don't feel that my skin needs the additional moisurtizing that glycerine provides.
Anyway, I have been doing this for a week now and my skin looks so fresh and amazing! By making it fresh every time I use it there is no oxidation that makes Vit C serums that sit in bottles so prone to breakdown. Not to mention it is cheap!
Google search at home vit C serums and you will find a few different ways to make it, but mine is just pure vit c crystals and water. It seems to work faster than traditional serums too and my skin is SO soft and smooth. I also use Retin-A 0.1% at night time.
