If a dancer convinces me to buy her a drink, does she get a cut of the sale? If so, how does the bartender keep track of this? Does he push a button, write it down, or something?

i have no idea. i don't think girls get a cut at most clubs anyways. the ones where they do seem to mostly be pretty small clubs, so i doubt it's very hard to keep track.
-love everyone but keep them far from your soul-

The drink hustle has pretty much disappeared in my part of the country. The old combat zone in Boston used to use a ticket system.
I can't imagine it being more complicated than having a list of the dancers on the schedule by the cash register and making a notation every time a gal sells a drink. I suppose a club with a computerized POS system could have a code for every dancer programmed in but that would be a major butt pain considering turnover. Honestly, how many clubs still do this?

There's an SC near me (it's closing I've heard) where there's a special $15 dollar drink and the dancer gets $10 I think. I don't think it's much harder to keep track of than dances. I think at many clubs the dancers get a good commission on the sale of bottles of champagne. Also probably low volume enough, like keeping track of dances.

i worked at a club that had a drink minimum. another one, it didn't exist. and yet another one, i made a very, VERY, small profit (i think 3 dollar per drink if i remembered to tell the bartender)
i've always been out of for myself and the club that did have a drink minimum i would always talk myself out of paying. i would much rather hustle a guy for a 40 dollar dance vs a 10 drink, even if on the extremely rare occasion i had to pay out of my pocket)

Typically either the bar will keep a tally sheet & mark the dancer drinks by her name as they are sold, or she will be given sort of "ticket stub" to turn in at the end of the night.
Don't you ever sleep?
Not at night...that's when the stars have rather better things to do. They're coming out, shining, that sort of thing.

Where I work in Phx, the waitress has to tell the bartender who the ladies drink is for. This club is big, with a lot of new waitresses, so I always make sure to say it is for "Emily." The bartender puts 5 dollars aside for the dancer with her name attached to it. If the dancer does not get her money before the bar closes, the money goes into the bar tips.
At another club we had a drink minimum. The waitress would tell the bartender and she "kept score."

Well one club I worked at you were expected to sell a number of drinks. You did not get a commission but your bar fee would be lower if you met the quota.Another gave us tickets that we turned in at the end of the night and than it was written down and we were paid on Saturday night. One place gave us plastic mermaids, also poker chips, reciepts, straws.champagne caps. Some place only give commissions on certain drinks not beer or call brands etc.Francinista
Where I work we get given a 'chip' every time we are bought champagne and when the customer buys it, we go to the bar with them and collect it. We don't have a waitressing service, and we're not allowed to carry cash. Each chip is worth half the price of the champagne.
At the club I visit the dancer gets about 75% of the drink sell with the club getting 25%. They use some sort of a ticket system that the dancer turns in at the end of her shift. Seems to work out well for both the dancer and the club.

Sure, it does happen. But its rare. I'd say, in less than 5% of clubs. 10% would be stretching it.
That is, commission from selling bottles of champagne. Henrietta is in Europe, where its more common. Plus they do not have waitresses. Getting "ladies drinks" commission is also not that rare, although not the norm.
I referring to bottle sales commissions. I have worked in maybe, 2 out of 17/18 clubs that gave strippers commission for selling bottles of champ.

the clubs i worked at, we did not get money from drinks other than champagne. then the waitress just told the bartender which dancer it was.
i imagine if you are at a bar where the dancers do make money from it, you have a list of dancer names and the waitress tells you who is getting what and you tick mark their name. Much as with keeping a tab for a customer.

Not exactly what you asked, but after a while, I concluded the best thing to do is to go to the club when it's fairly busy. During those times, any dancer worth getting a dance from will want to dance for you and move on. Unless she's conning a custy with severe emotional problems (flame-throwers down! I'm not saying all dancers do this), a dancer will always make more from dancing than any side hustle. In many clubs, if you can't afford to tip well, it's better to come at a busy but not peak time. Because at the peak times, you may be shut out of dances by the custies who can tip better. We all know that the best way to risk a friendship is to bring money into it. By that same principle, it's a steep uphill climb to try to find really healthy companionship with a dancer.

Sorry I missed church. I was too busy practicing witchcraft and becoming a lesbian.
