My dignity is not based on maintaining my chastity—it’s based on maintaining my control over my body. When I say “he took my dignity” and you respond, “you had no dignity because you’re a sex worker” you misunderstand what I’m saying. I’m not saying he stole my innocence. I’m saying he robbed me of my control over my body. And it boils my blood.
Because, damn it, I’m running a business just like any other business! And just like any other business, I reserve the right to refuse service to ANYONE!
(This is a reponse to the earlier thread concerning the assault on an Australian brothel worker who was raped and battered.)
And, secondly, her consent was conditional on him wearing a condom. Once he took it off, that's it! Consent revoked! In American law, battery is non-consensual touching which may be conditional. Once the condition was breached, consent is reovked and any further touching is battery. ETA: Ashcraft v. King (1991) established a performed surgery was battery because a there was a condition that family-donated blood would be used and outside blood was used instead.
