Default Exercising with a Heart Condition

So I may be getting a new job that frees up my evenings quite a bit, and if I do, I wanna get back in the habit of working out for about an hour after I get off work. My boyfriend is out of shape and says he wouldn't mind joining me.

The only issue is that he has a heart murmur, and anaerobic exercise is out of the question. He has a leaky heart valve and has been told by all of his doctors to only do aerobic exercise.

I've told him about a workout regimen that JD told me about, which includes 10 minutes cardio and three rotations of various low-weight, moderate-rep exercises. Heart is constantly pumping for about 45 minutes, and the exercises don't bring you to muscle failure.

It's depressing because he really wants to get in shape, but he doesn't want to aggravate his heart condition. He already eats healthy.

His doctor said aerobic exercise (as I stated above), but he didn't elaborate as to what kind of aerobic exercise would be best appropriate.

Running/jogging at a conversational pace and weight training with low weigh high rep.

That is what I would suggest. Mix it up with biking, swimming, inline skating, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, walking up stairs (not running), etc.

Make sure your pace is moderate and you he can breathe while doing these exercises. Activities should be at a conversational to labored conversational pace. Not sprinting!

Does he have mitral Valve Prolapse? From what I am reading exercise helps. One of my friends has a dangerous murmer. If she wasn't so fit I don't know if she would be here today.

i would suggest getting a personal trainer for him who can help better. maybe some personal trainers have experience with this specifically even? and then after a few sessions hopefully he will have some idea of what exercises work for him.
The best thing i have heard in a strip club to date:
customer: we should get married right now! we should get a shotgun marriage!
me: uhh... i think you are misunderstanding what a shotgun marriage means. A shotgun marriage means you knock me up and my daddy shows up at your door with a gun and forces you to marry me and raise the baby. You mean elope.
customer: hmm... nah actually i will take the shotgun marriage. At least then we would be having sex.

I would talk to the doctor about what specifically he can do or not do.

My friend had a similar heart condition, and died from it during exercise. I don't mean to scare you, but your boyfriend does have to be very careful.

By getting more specific guidelines, he can get in shape safely.
