Default Does your Momma know what you do?

Inspired by another thread that Avery posted, I'm curious to know if you girls tell your mothers (or any other family) what you do for a living?

To my folks, I'm a bartender. Thankfully, my parents and I live in different countries, so it's easy to maintain this lie (for now at least). I don't want to tell them what I do because - far from being mad at me - I'm worried they'd be disappointed and blame themselves for not being able to provide for me enough.

Whats your story? Does anyone know what you really do?
How do you cover it up?
Mostly - how do you deal with telling the truth (if that's what you do)?

My parents all know. My mom & step father flipped out years ago when they found out, they are over it now. My father & step mother didn't care.

i told my family when i started dancing. whether they know i'm still doing it, i don't know or care really.

for a while, i worried that they would think bad things about me, but i've stopped giving a shit.

LOL wellll....yep. I was a waitress at my club for a year before I started dancing. My now hubby was a male dancer there. I used to have to waiter on his shows. Let me tell you, seeing your bf of one month up there getting groped was probably one of the hardest things ever. I didn't understand at the time that it was just a job and he was there to take their money. I used o scream at him because I was so fucking jealous! I got somewhat used to it after awhile but it was stil hard. So he convinced me to try dancing. My mom already knew I was a waitress. She was the cleaning lady there and my cousin was a bartender. Fucking family affair! I told my mom that I wanted to try dancing. She was fine with it. She was there my first night at the tiprail with a dollar!!! So yes she's totally fine with it. If she was younger and had the body she would be up there. I am lucky to have an open minded mom

Yep. I'm close with my parents, and I lied about it for about a month, but it bugged me too much so I told them. They're awesome, and they trust my judgment, so they're okay with it. And when I tell my mom how much I make, she wishes she would've done it, lol.

I've been dancing for a bit more than a year but I haven't told anyone except my partner. As my home is on the other side of the world, I'm not too worried anyone will find out. But I'm a really honest and straight forward person so it does bug me that I have to lie them, that I'm a bartender. I know they would never accept me being a dancer, as their upbringing was completely different and in my home country, adult industry is not really developed so dancing equals prostitution over there.. I hate making up stories to explain how I can afford this and that and it's annoying. As dancing for me is a full time business, not just a fun hobby/job, I'm making a lot of money, saving and investing and also starting university early next year to get a good degree. I will probably tell them one day, after I've quit for good but for now, it's better for everyone if I keep it a secret. It does suck, but hey, what can you do...

They know I work in sales and I travel often for work. They know nothing about stripping, but do know I waitressed in a strip club in college. I feel terrible about lying but can't face the conversation ( I even panic randomly but not often about it ).

This is so bizzare, but cool! I'm glad your parents are so open minded about it. Must make Holidays a lot easier (not having to dodge "Where do you work" questions....).

Thanks! My mom is a single mom and really young, I'm 27 she's 43, so she's always been somewhat more friend-like than mother-like. I hated it when I was younger cuz she was so irresponsible but now of course I appreciate it. Alot of people may find it weird but I'm glad I don't have to go running if my mom stops in..
