    Default webcamming macbook question

Sorry, I tried to search & read through many posts, but I can't seem to find a definite answer. On these sites: livejasmin; onhercam; streamate -- which ones allow macbook? I know myfreecams requires you to install windows, so do these websites require the same thing? Or do they just not recognize the built in mac camera? If so, then would I just have buy the logictech webcam for mac & use that? Thanks for any help!

onhercam/streamate/ifriends/ i know can support mac. MFC/adultwork/websfinest are PC only. You can work on mfc/adultwork/websfinest if you download and install bootcamp or parallels. You will need a copy of windows though.

You can buy the logitech vision pro made just for macs or you can get the new HD logitech cam(i can't think of the model name but it's the hd one that is $100) that should be plug and play. No software unless you d/l camtwist or purchase($9) iglasses to adjust your settings. If you are camming in decent lighting though you probably won't need to download any additional software for settings.

There is also the ipevo cam(no mic) for macs.

    Happy Camming

If you do get the Quickcam Vision Pro for Mac, I was told from another person using also a Mac if want to be on MFC it won't support on there even if have the bootcamp / parallels with windows application. If you do get logitech and want to be on MFC to make sure get the one that supports on windows.

Are there any updates as to what the best webcam is out there for us girls using Macs? Preferably something with software I could use to control it...

I have a Mac and a C920 Logitech. I also had C910 in the past. My MacBook is 4 years old, so some software isn't new. I can broadcast on MFC if I use CamTwist to mess with the resolution on C920. This set up works for me. However, I heard girls having troubles with Logitech cams being compatible with Macs. So please dont take my word for it and go out getting C920 when it might not be compatible with some Macs. I do not know the specific situations and software configurations that make it more or less compatible. Logitech software that comes with the camera doesn't work on Macs.

I also broadcasted on Chaturbate and cams.com. Some sites work on Chrome and some work on Safari browsers. I had to play around.

Right, but I'm not just looking for a camera that would be compatible - I'm looking for something that has software that I could use to control hardware features of it ala Logitech's Windows software (zoom, tilt, etc.). While CamTwist is fine for doing post-processing, that's not what I'm asking about exactly.

I use the Logitech 910c on my G5 with no problems and use Webcam Settings from the app store for color corrections, It also allows zooming/panning and the like. But remember that all those things mess with quality.

Yes - if you zoom in post-process software, that will (obviously) mess with quality - as your taking part of the image and scaling it up. This is precisely why I'm not asking for people's experiences with post-processing software; CamTwist will take care of all of that if I wanted it to.

Post-processing software takes the feed from the camera -- the images it is outputting -- and modifies them. However, certain webcams come with software made by the manufacturer that actually *control* the camera itself. This sort of software can control the focus on the camera lens, control zoom lenses if the camera comes equipped with them, control motors to tilt the camera if the camera comes equipped with those, etc.

Obviously this sort of software would be specifically made by the manufacturer for their individual devices. It is my understanding that this is what Logitech's PC software does, but that they do not offer said software for Mac - as their Mac support is pretty awful.

So what I'm asking here is if anyone knows of any cameras whose manufacturers actually invest into supporting their Mac customers to the extent that they give these sorts of features to them.

A quick google search led me to this

A list of mac compatible webcams through amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Mac-Compatible...R229XF7U7QM4Z6
The CNet reviews for webcams already filtered to show mac compatible: http://reviews.cnet.com/webcams/?filter=500603_3812573_
Here is an apple forum post about mac compatible webcams with ability to control tilt/pan/zoom in the camera (the answer as of this post is it does NOT exist but there is a specific software that is the best at optical called iGlasses): https://discussions.apple.com/thread...art=0&tstart=0

Basically, no there is no software in existence made for Mac that allows you to directly control the camera as of late 2012.

That said you CAN run Windows software on a Mac if you're tech savvy enough. A google search can also give you detailed instructions on how to do that but here are some links.

Legit yo, Google is EVERYONE'S best friend. When Mac only has an 8%* share of the computer marketplace you cannot just waltz on to a stripper and camgirl forum, snap your fingers, and expect someone have the answer to your question here. I wish you the best of luck camming girl!!

Most consumer grade webcams are a set resolution and once you decide to Zoom, Tilt, Pan your just stretch the original image. Its all digital zoom not optical zoom. What your looking for is probably a high end surveillance camera or maybe HD video camera with a motorized tripod. Unless your making crazy bank and have guys willing to help you upgrade your system to that level, Just attach your basic high-end consumer grade webcam to a tripod.. when you want to zoom, move the damn thing closer to you.

First, let me say that I have been doing plenty of research on Google and have been to most of those sites that were linked to two post prior. That being said, I did want to hear of the experiences of other girls here as well; hence the post. I by no means was trying to waltz in, snap my fingers and expect an answer to my problem - and I truly apologize if I gave that impression!

As to your post, Mistress Anika, it's not so much that I'm *looking* for those features; rather it was that up until about two minutes ago my understanding was that most of Logitech's webcams *had* these features, but they were only accessible to Windows users. Therefore I was looking for a camera that would also extend these features to Mac users.

The reason I thought this was the case was the ambiguous wording in the documentation for the Logitech cam software on their website describing the ability to pan, tilt and zoom their cameras - combined with a video review I had seen of a logitech camera on YouTube that *does* support Pan-Tilt-Zoom.

As it turns out, that camera is in the Logitech Orbit series, and that series *does* support mechanical Pan-and-Tilt through the Logitech windows software (whereas for the C910, C920, etc. these are post-processed image adjustments). However, I do not believe even that camera has Optical Zoom, and regardless it is an old camera from 2007 or so that appears to be out of production. While I do see a few floating around Amazon & Ebay, the resolution not exceeding 640x480 makes the mechanical features irrelevant.

So basically then, any post-processing software that is capable of handling the HD resolution that the camera puts out without downsampling it's output should theoretically work just as well as the Logitech software, and thus CamTwist should be fine. That's the conclusion I've drawn; if anyone else sees something that I'm missing please let me know! ^_^
