    Duh Annoying regular...help.

So I have this regular who on so many levels is a douche bag. He is constantly flashing his money, telling me these grand stories which are made up (he tells them over and over and the details are different every time). I can handle that tho.
Here is where the problem lies:
We exchanged phone numbers. Mostly because he spends a substantial amount of money on me, and has been my saving grace financially. (The past month would have been TERRIBLE if he didn't tip so graciously). WELL. Now he is BLOWING my phone up. 15 phone calls today. When I woke up I had 13 new text messages. ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME?
I was not expecting him to act like this. How do I keep this behavior in check with my customers?

    Oh sweet jesus.

You might have to "call the scene" and explain to him that your time is your time, and unless he's paying you for your time, then he shouldn't intrude.

Option 2--Tell him that you used to have a psycho boyfriend who blew up your phone (make something up), and ask him if he'd limit his texting/calls to x number per day. Say that that helps you enjoy your interactions with him, instead of him reminding you of your stalker ex boyfriend.

I'm sure other people on here will come up with more elegant ways of handling this, but this is what popped into my mind!

Tell him your cell is mainly only for emergencies, so you just have pay as you go and get charged for each incoming text message and don't pick up the phone unless it's urgent because of the cost?

How much is he spending on you? I had a customer, older gent who was spending about $300 on me per week. Maintained him for a little over a year but I just got so tired of the increasing demands with no increase in spending. I sorta blew up and asked him to never come back. Other customers had lost interest in me because he was always there. I am new to this but I realized quickly that nothing would ever be enough for him. The more I gave, the more he needed. It was time to end it.

If he offers to pay for her phone then she could just say no because she doesn't like cell phones to begin with (always being "on" and reachable), and only has it for emergencies by choice, not because she can't afford it. I would be pretty surprised if the average customer would make such an offer though.

Yes. I have been in this exact situation, and I handled it the same way. Whenever he'd come, even though I'd make money off of him, I'd lose money off of other customers (not to mention the fact that he would flip my mood with his neediness, thus affecting the rest of my night). Good riddance! I don't need his money.

Once they are obsessed. Its no longer worth it for me. I would cut him off. Calling even once a day is completely unacceptable and not normal. Even if he was spending $1K a week on me Id still cut him lose and I am always seeking regulars. In future when you give out your number make it very clear that he cannot call you. I usually say "I dont like to talk on the phone, never have. I usually dont carry it on me anyway since Im always in class or studying. If you need to contact me please text me, but remember I go to bed early". They dont always listen but Ive really only had 2 phone harassers in 2.5 years. I cut them off immediately. Told them it was unacceptable and not to contact me anymore. I stopped responding to txts or call and ignored them in the club. They got the message. Sounds harsh but stalkers feed off of any contact even negative contact so after I said enough is enough. I always ignore. One still occassionally msgs me a year later and I still ignore every single msg.

^ Good for you girl. It is definitely harrassment. I mean, how many doctors would put up with their patients texting/calling them 24 hours a day? Like, I get it that we aren't doctors, but it's still a professional thing.

If you have an android phone.. you can set their phone number to never ring and go straight to voice mail. Or set it to certain times with windows of the phone to ring.

I've saved a couple as "don't pick up" & set it to go straight to voice mail. Boy did I regret sharing my # with these idiots.

You could just text and say "I'm working tonight. Come spend lots of money on me."

That should set the mood. He'll either be offended and stop coming in, or come in and spend lots of money.

There is an Internet service that will do the same thing as the Android phone for you, it is free and (as far as I know) only works with regular cellphone accounts (not pre-paid). If anyone wants to know about it send me a message and I will give you the link.

This is why I'd never give a customer my number.
It's just not worth potentially earning more to have to deal with this...
I've had guys I was dating do this to me though... I can only tolerate 2 MAYBE 3 calls in a day before I answer and blow the fuck up. Sorry. I don't need to answer 20 fucking texts about nothing in the middle of the day and then another 30 crying about why I'm not answering the first 20. Lol.

Yes. I have never given a regular my number. Not even close to worth it. If I'm home, I'm home. Work does not come home with me.

that tactic actually works. I actually facebook friended and shared my number with him and we went on to become really awesome friends. It was weird! I would've thought he would've made me fall asleep with his monotone voice while he talked about computers and world of warcraft (he was in his mid 20s). But he turned out to be an awesome regular...just a LITTLE annoying every now and then.

But friends do that to each other at some point or other.
