Default getting the stench of cheap body spray out of dresses...

I don't wear body spray, period. I recently bought a beautiful long dress from a girl at work, and it absolutely REEKS of cheap body spray. Like Calgon or body fantasies cheap. I tried soaking it in woolite overnight, and it helped a little, but I can still kinda smell it. Any suggestions? Would a little baking soda help, or would that ruin the fabric? It's a nylon/spandex blend, if that info helps.

I add baking soda to my laundry all the time, and I've never had any problems with it. That or OxyClean.

Puke! I hate that stuff. Consider using Washing Soda... http://www.drugstore.com/qxp194866/a...nt_booster.htm

Or... if you're in a pinch try some extra strength febreeze. http://www.febreze.com/en-us/product..._strength.aspx

Adding about a cup of vinegar to the wash cycle helps with bad smells.

    Thanks ladies!
Sophia, I agree; no offense to anyone that wears cheap body sprays, but I often wonder how any one could think they smell good. Oh, well, its a free country.

I wash my gear by hand and use Ivory liquid soap. It's gentle and has a nice clean scent.

Try vodka! i've never used it myself, but I just ran across an article similar to the link below so there maybe something to it.

And like another poster mentioned, vinegar is supposed to work too.

I have gowns from years ago that still smell like the parfume I was wearing at that time. I have tried to wash out that smell with everything under the sun (it smells good but is not the parfume I wear now, mixing them you can smell the difference). Seriously, the smell of Prada is stuck in it and that's that! You should just give it back to her and buy a new one, just to be on the safe side

I soaked it in woolite overnight, twice. It finally smells normal.
