    Default Bodyfat distribution differences

What I find interesting about those two pics is, I bet both women have approx the same body fat percentage (BF%). It's a perfect example of how different BF distribution will look on different people. The bottom one has the apple shape (most of the BF around the mid section) while the top one, has the fat distributed in all the "right" places making her curvy and attractive (in my opinion) considering how high her BF% is.

Also, the top pic appears to me to have some muscle tone below her BF adding to her general shape, a flat tummy, etc, while the pic below, clearly does not.

    Both are working +sized models.

I'd guess both to be approx 30%BF give or take a few.

That's really cool, thanks. I'm at 29% BF (down from 41% and 320lbs!!) and I look like the girl on the top, except my stomach isn't quite as flat. I hear 29% and I feel HUGE still, but the girl on the top looks nice as proportionate - which is how most people tell me I look now.

This made me feel a lot better and is supermotivating to go put in yet another session at the gym. Thanks Will

The 30% is just a guess on my part, but I'm a pretty good guesser on that type of stuff.

If you look like the gal on the top, sounds like you are doing great! And down from 320??!! You have every reason to be motivated for the gym.

I always look like #2 if I gain weight, which is one of the many reasons why it's best not to (never been quite as big as #2, but it does go to my tummy first for sure).

I look mostly like girl #1 only with a little more pudge on my belly. I think #2 is actually pretty hot, though

I'm with you...#1 with more pudge....but mine goes on my thighs and the rest of my legs too. I kinda like my little pot though - and husband thinks it's all hot...so what the heck.

I think if you put girl 1 in girl 2's stupid pose, she'd get a fold on her side too.

If you took the bottom model and put her in the same pose as the top one, she wouldn't look like the top model due to very obvious differences in bodyfat distribution as well as the fact the top model has some muscle tone under her fat, and the bottom... not so much...That's how I see it anyway. Your millage may differ.

they wouldn't look exactly the same but i guarantee model 2 stomach would not look as large as it would if she would standing in the same pose as model 1. i'm somewhere in the middle, i gain in my stomach first but then gain weight all over...but i've never been that big either.

I look very much like #1 but I would never be considered "plus sized." What constitutes a "plus size" these days? Number 1 would have to be 6ft tall to wear a 14 or larger.

In today's American fashion society of thin = beauiful, I believe plus sized models are size 8 and up.

Thanks for posting that. I think no. 2 looks unhealthy. That's the main reason I have trouble finding the image attractive, even though her face is absolutely stunning. Butterbody? Lol.

I've never had body fat percentages assessed, but I definitely look like no. 2 when I'm even approaching (not inside) the overweight BMI range. I'm currently 171cm and 69.5kg. I still have 4 or 5 lose before I feel completely balanced out, but when I gain 2 or more kilos to what I have now, I look and feel really unhealthy, not sexy/curvy. And I know many girls who look amazing and healthy with the same or higher BMI due to weight distribution.

In the States, plus size is twelve and above.

Jay12, on Australian Top Model, size 10 models (they were supermodel tall, too) attracted controversy due to their 'curves'. If you saw them IRL, they'd probably appear strikingly slender.

I've seen the Aussie version of the show, and yes, they are a bit curvier than the ones from the US. Personally, I think the ones from Australia looked better than the ones from US. I like girls with meat on their bones!

Are you talking for clothing or modeling? Size 12 & 14 are often found in the general women's wear along with the other sizes like 6, 8, 10. Usually size 16 is where they are split into "plus size" at retail stores, but sometimes that is size 14 too. I've never seen a size 12 in the "plus size" at a retail store.

As for modeling, it's not like anyone who is a size 12 is could be considered a "plus size" model. Agencies generally only take models that size who are at least 5'8, & at a size 12 they would want them to be closer to 5'10.

I would like to see the un-photoshopped version of these pics, though... Even plus-sized models are photoshopped to take out that little extra bit of pudge, adjust skin tone to make model looks thinner, remove shadows caused by fat, slim down just a bit, and - most importantly of all - remove cellulite.

I'm having a hard time understanding why the first model is "plus size".. You can see her ribs.

My figure is very similar (tad more bony) but I only weigh 120... 10lbs less I start to look anorexic or like I'm on drugs.

^^^ Pretty much if you are tall but don't fit into the general BMI index for standard modeling (minimum of 18 for runway but generally less than 19) then you are considered "Plus" size by modeling agencies.

The BMI is a trap; it doesn't take into consideration bones and muscular tissue.

My BMI is 25, but I still fit in a size six.
