    Default Colour tattoos

I am wantig to get some small pink hearts added to my black ink tattoo but I am worried about fading and how colour tattoos last. Has anybody had a colour tattoo (preferably a pink one but it doesnt matter) and can tell me about how they last? thank you

It will differ on your skin, how you take care of it and how well the tattoo is applied. Lighter colors tend to fade quicker than darker but, not insanely fast. Maybe within a few years really. All of mine are colored except for one that I have yet to get colored. Many factors play into it.

Pinks and Reds are the fastest to fade and they fade out to absolutely nothing.

Not true, unless you had a shitty artist using shitty ink and did everything you aren't supposed to do when you get a tattoo, like going tanning.

Colours will definitely fade, but no tattoo will fade to nothing unless the ink was shotty or you get it lasered. It's important to get touch ups every few years, depending on how quickly it fades on your skin.

    ^True!

I used to work at a tattoo shop and shanna dior has the best advice. I have 3 medium pink tattoos and they are all very bright, even the ones I got 4 years ago. I also got my tattoos done by excellent artists (their portfolio should blow you away when you look at it) who had several years experience. Some artists work better with black and grey, others color bomb. Look at lots of portfolios!

This isn't true, but whatever, I must not have a clue what I'm talking about.

Not to say that anyone may be wrong or right, but one of my tats has pink and one has red and they are both rather vibrant and the pink one is 6yrs old and the red is 5 years old. It honestly has a lot to do with many factors. Nothing with a tattoo's vibrancy is set in stone unfortunately.:/

stay out of the sun. it fades it and causes the grey ink to change sometimes.
nevertheless, i wouldnt worry about fading. just get the colour refreshed every 5 years or so

I got a tattoo with some red in it 7 years ago and I've had no fading... but I got another one in red/pink from a different (worse) artist maybe... 3 years ago... and it's definately a lot lighter than it used to be.

I've noticed that these colors are less visable in general and seem to fade more quickly on people who have a lot of pink/red in their skin tone.
