Default Xbox 360 w/kinect vs Wii

Ok, I have no clue about gaming systems. My son has a Wii at my parents (he spends about 4 days a week there and about 3 at my apt while I'm in school). I planned on buying him a Wii for my apt for Christmas so he could just transport the games and play here too. He's begged for a Wii for here and I was going to get the Wii Fit for my own Christmas present.

Well, now he has seen the comercials for the Xbox kinect and is begging for that instead. It really wouldn't cost any more and would probably be cheaper because I wouldn't have to buy the Fit thingie with it to do the workout vids. My Dad had already mentioned that Mom and I were thinking like girls and that he would rather have a different system as opposed to being able to play all his games at both places. Plus my cousin's son is saying that as he gets a bit older the Xbox will be more appropriate.

Opinions? I am now leaning toward the Xbox but there is this awesome red Wii on sale at Walmart right now and that looks cool too! Help plz! I really wish I was able to buy both, but just can't afford that!

Don't you need a Xbox to use the Kinect? Both of those together would be significantly more than a Wii I think...

Plus you have to factor in the cost of games.

Putting money aside, I think you're safe either way, but I would go for the Xbox. It will get better for him as he gets older, and with the kinect its as good if not better than the Wii from what I can tell.

I've been doing a bit of research on this too. I've talked to a lot of guys who have tried the Kinect & they seem to like it better. I heard there is a Best Buy store in south Denver that has one on demo. Maybe check in your city to see if they have one in town that your son could test to see if he really wants it more than the other system?

There tour schedule for the demos is at:

I can't really answer except to say I have a Wii and I love it.

xbox and kinect, but if you go that rout you may wanna consider xbox live also.

Xbox with kinect is $299 4g or $399 250g hd. I'm really not stupid enough to buy the kinect sensor without the Xbox. Wii + Wii Fit $199 + $120, so it's really not that much more unless I go with the 250g hard drive which considering he's 6 I doubt I'll do. After all, I can always add the extra memory later for about $120 if he needs it in a few years.

Kylea, I checked all over Charleston today and, no dice. Everyone is sold out, no one has one to buy, much less one on demo.
