Thumbs up girl skateboarders/ longboarders? or: other girls-on-wheels?

Know of any/ Ever been one? Ever wanted to? What do you think?

(( Longboard Girls Crew, in Barcelona, Spain ))

I've been longboarding for a year, casually. I like it alot, just coasting, but I dont do tricks, don't know any names/terms, not into boarding as a "culture," and haven't skated with other people since moving into this new city. Never skated with other girls, either, but I've always wanted to.

Skating near traffic makes me nervous, but I just want to get good enough where I'm confident with the board, like its an extension of my body.

Also, have mixed feelings about skating in public. On one hand I do what I want, whatever! On the other hand sometimes I'm really not in the mood to be gawked at/ hollered to, I just want to glide by in peace. I don't actually like all that attention if they're not gonna be tipping me, you know?

I figure skating is kinda like stripping... can't do it forever, gotta take advantage of my youth.

    I like road bikes, too...

Or in-line skating, to old-school disco tunes...

I've always wanted to. Occasionally I see some girls on their boards around here and they always look so cool.^^
I would get a board of my own but I'm too afraid of looking like a total noob

Yeah I guess the other thing is that I'm more afraid to fall than I used to. I did a small tumble onto the floor last night, and I felt/heard my bones rattle the way an adults' bones would. I'm only 23, but it reminded me that the risks and injuries of skating are much lesser for a 13-18 year old, who still, for the most part, has flexible, growing body parts that heal faster and stronger.

I was a skater when I was younger...I fucked up my knee pretty bad on ramps & had to have surgery..I had bangs 2 inches past my chin & spiked hair & dressed like a clown..The good old days..then I got a car at 16 & started surfing on the east coast of Fl..second light in Melbourne...loved it

We also have a lot more to lose - you can't dance with broken bones
