I think presents can be good in some cases, and sometimes you just need to lead by example. E.g. I had a great night with a new custy once, and we kept in touch, but it wasn't until I sent him a CD by his fav band that he came back for more (and got me a lil return present too). It tickled him to death that I'd remembered him mentioning how much he liked that music- really set me apart from other girls in his eyes.

So, basic equation is dancer feels depressed, customer can be her hero by giving her so much extra money.

I gave up regulars awhile ago. These games never appealed to me. I would rather just party with a bunch of strangers that I'll never see again. Soo much less emotional drama.

AMEN TO DITCHING THE EMOTIONAL DRAMA!
I don't even want a regular ever again. They are so draining!
Speaking of gifts though, a customer brought me a dallas cowboys mini helmet signed by tony romo and jessica simpson. WTF? It's certified authentic...but what the hell am I going to do with it? I would have rather had money.
I don't like the cowboys or jessica simpson!! Skip gifts, get the money. :-)

This Thread Gave me a GREAT idea!

    http://www.superstrippergift.com

I checked google....and every December there is actually a spike in searches for "stripper christmas present" so don't feel weird asking for presents...they are out there searching the internet for ideas of WHAT to get you!

I like that idea but wouldn't that kill the fantasy for the guys a little bit? maybe it's just me but IMO guys don't want to see their favorite dancer as a saleswoman.

^ Many customers delude themselves into thinking that their ATF doesn't think of them as a sale. "They're only selling to all of the other guys, not me!!" This is why many guys love to try to tell strippers how they can up their sales games.

true. most of my regulars though just come in to see me and then leave. we never really talk about other customers. I would feel bad bringing it up. if they ask me what they should get me though I guess it couldn't hurt to ask

Gigi..That's why the page is written towards a guy's perspective. Charlie is absolutely correct...regulars want to be "on your team" and see you make as much money as you can off the other dudes...so then you can "take a break" with them. This is especially true with Yellows: they want the best for you (and usually want to see you stop dancing and hang out with them in the real world)

And yes it's for real...I'd say a third of our sales are to guys (i.e. male name on the credit card)

I'll hustle for presents if the guy won't spend any actual cash.
For whatever reason... there are some guys who won't buy $100 in dances... but will buy $300 in gifts.

Other than that. I'd rather stick with cash and buy MYSELF what I want.

^ I usually give away the stuff customers get me, since they rarely get me anything I like. Perfumes and whatnot usually go to my mom (customers always buy me older woman perfume).

One of my customers bought me lingerie, but seriously, the last thing I want to do is take lingerie from a customer and wear it around my SO. That stuff is hanging up in my closet with the tags still on!

I've only been gifted perfume once... and it was some DISGUSTING Victoria's Secret scent that smelled like 12-year-old.

Most of the time... any gift I've been given was something that I was like "Here is the url. Buy this and bring it to me." I still typically prefer cash... even over something I'd buy myself.

Totally. If someone I don't like very much buys me something that I want, it seems to lose its value.

OR... if a customer buys you something work related (shoes, outfits, ect)... they expect you to be wearing it ANY TIME they happen to show up and get offended if you aren't.
Like "Oh... I really thought you'd be wearing that dress I bought... It seemed like you really wanted it. /dissapointed and/or suspicious look"

you can also go to wishlist.com and some other sites like thingsiwant.com and when you go online you can link what you want to it and put it on your facebook or whatever or just on business cards you can hand to your customer with your schedule on it.

    another idea...
what if you sold more than one superstripper gift...and we paypaled you the cash back to you (minus the transaction fees and income taxes we have to pay on it)....

...and we gave you the script to use to sell it.....

Hey Avalon, I had an idea about selling your products as gifts for strippers. You could have them ask for Stripper Camp vouchers. I could see telling a regular "Ohh my gosh I've heard it's so much fun, it's like summer camp for strippers, we all get to bunk together and have pillow fights and stuff. And they teach us a workout routine and how to eat healthier and and what investing is and oh did I mention bunking together and pillow fights?"
    Yes, I'm real.

You would have to think of what to get the guy as reciprocity though so maybe have a cute photo shoot at the end of their "graduation" ceremony with them in a sexy schoolgirl outfit or something with the cap, or just a cap and a tback? Oh and postcards from camp.. I dunno, it's just an idea, lol. You know I love you and want you to sell lot$$$
    Yes, I'm real.

+1 to everything that Kylea said and never relying on a client for your neccessities.

That having been said I do get a lot of gifts from clients.

If its something I want it'll come up in the course of conversation (a vacation to somewhere I've never been but he has, a BA, certain expensive shoes) and I'll mention how I'd really like it but I can't justify getting it for myself. Time in the industry is fleeting and I don't want to retire with nothing to show for it so EVERYTHING I make goes into investments for my future (school, house, car, savings account) and I'd be silly to spend it on stuff that's going to depreciate over time. (But I really wish I could have those shoes or whatever).

9/10 the shoes show up with him next time he books with me.

Its a nice exchange: what they give me raises my poor-grad-student quality of life immensely without sacrificing my future and they get to be the person that's making my world a little easier.
