    Default Streamate HD Confusion

What is the difference between simply selecting HD in the Quality Settings tab on the upper right corner, and downloading the Adobe codec and selecting "External Encoder" and all that? I tried doing the latter without much success... the codec program kept freezing, my video came out choppy, and I hate the fact that the screen opens in another window.

But last night I had HD selected in the drop-down menu and I got a LOT more traffic and privates than normal... of course, I also just bought a new Lifecam HD Cinema so my cam quality is 100x better even without selecting HD...

Just wondering what the difference is, and why it takes so much effort to do the whole codec thing... is it really worth it?

    Hrm...
I'm going to try this tonight and let you know what happens. I'm thinking given what you said that theoretically the encoder might not be necessary if you already have a HD cam, and that the encoder simply converts 'normal' cam into HD - in which case I shouldn't need it either. Will let you know how my experiment goes!!! I hope it works cos my virus checker keeps messing with the Adobe encoder

You do not need a HD encorder, if your using it will just show the HD icon on your feed when guys click on your room.

the HD flash broadcaster really just takes up space on your computer. it good to have it gives guys with HD computer screen a better feeling,

but in all honesty. good lighting, good logitech or the lastest webcam on the market, your good to go, and guys just want to see you in the clear light as possible. they want to feel lik they touch you.

I do not use the HD software on any site. but guys compliment how clear my cam is.

I.e my lastest video on my youtube channel webcam festish or addiction. it was filmed with the logitech c600 or c500 with the 250 florecent lights. white light the corckscrew bulbs.

and youtube uploaded it in the HD format.

I have the same cam as minnie (logitech c600). I just use the hd setting in the top right corner and I always have the little "hd" icon above my pic.
The encoder just seems like too much of a pain in the ass for me. Guys tell me my cam looks great so I'm not going to change anything.

Well I tried setting it to the HD on the dropdown and the HD symbol did stay above my pic on the who's online page. But, for some reason it wasn't recognising my audio. i've gone back to the encoder because of that, but it looks like it'll work with some playing around!
