Seriously....they're for real. Fully grown they come to about 12"....sometimes 14", tiny enough to fit into a celebrity's handbag.

They are REALLY cute....honestly, it's no joke. Watch this - the 'star' of the video appears just after 50 seconds:

    And here's another:

I know it's a little freaky....but they are SOO cute and cuddly!

Why do our fave pets have three letter names?

    Cats, dogs, and pigs?

oh no! those things are so small! how am i supposed to get a lot of bacon off of them? so innefficient.

pigs belong on my plate, not in my purse.

sry, couldnt resist! they are cute though.
The best thing i have heard in a strip club to date:
customer: we should get married right now! we should get a shotgun marriage!
me: uhh... i think you are misunderstanding what a shotgun marriage means. A shotgun marriage means you knock me up and my daddy shows up at your door with a gun and forces you to marry me and raise the baby. You mean elope.
customer: hmm... nah actually i will take the shotgun marriage. At least then we would be having sex.

I've tried to find a plausable reason to own a Bunny... I can't. I've considered getting one "for my niece/nephew" and letting them keep it when I'm traveling. Don't think their parents would love that though...

    Yeah I'm a grown man.

I love bunnies so much it's probably ridiculous.
The SO thinks is ADORABLE... so he takes me to places where I can pet them regularly... but he won't let me have one.

Pigs are actually at least as intelligent maybe more than dogs. Trust me. Ive worked with them. They are sneaky little buggers. Not sure how trainable they are. They seem to be smart enough to realise they are bigger, stronger, and louder than you so can always get away. I really like them but most of my classmates hate them.

I really want a small breed tortoise personally http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h_N_r...eature=related

Thats what I asked hubby for for Christmas. But he thinks its cruel.

I owned one of these wretched things last month. I had to give it back to the breeder.

Shit and pissed everywhere...litter box trained my ass. It got erections near my son that were over a foot long and thin like a worm, squealed and stepped on it's own penis. Nipped at you, stubborn, won't listen, wretched smelling piss in the carpets, shit in my car.. runs from you.

Took me AND my boyfriend 45 minutes to catch it to take it back.

HORRIBLE PET if you have kids of any age or don't have at least an acre of land. NOT an indoor pet, don't care what anyone says.

    UGH

I probably wouldnt recommend owning most male pets uncastrated. They are horny dammit. Of course they arent going to do anything you ask. lol That means it was a bore... they are pretty intense animals.

We need to stop breeding and creating "designer" pets. These are bound to have all the awful health issues of a designer breed of animal, like teacup dogs. They just arent meant to be

Aren't they just breeding for size? Yet instead of going for bigger like they sometimes aim with cows, they go for smaller?

Yeah... I was under the impression that breeding for size didn't have nearly the negative effects that breeding for certain traits did.

That in and of itself leads to problems. Because you are basically breeding runts to runts to runts...and runts tend to have more health issues. Because they arent fully developed. Basically...fetuses develop at different times depending on when the sperm got to that egg. SO when the litter gets born at say, 2 months...the runt has only maybe cooked for 50 days.

In teacup dogs for example, you get issues like luxating patellas (kneecaps that wont stay in place), collapsing tracheas, etc... because they were never meant to be that small.

Breeding for size IS breeding for a specific trait.

Lol, little micro or tea cup pigs are so cute. I showed some to my bf a few months ago and he almost ran out of the house to go find one ASAP (yes he is a total animal lover). Lol he wants one for a pet. Tempest you may have to come live with us, lol. You could then pretty much have any damn pet you wanted *eyeroll* We went to the pet store the other day and tried to buy a hamster, rat, snake, bird and tropical fish all at the same time. Yeaaah I had to put my foot down, lol.

They aren't just 'breeding for size'. A potbelly pig should mature to weigh between 130 - 200 lbs depending on ancestry and gender. These 'micro teacup pigs' are actually underfed from birth onward because

A.) The mother is malnourished during pregnancy and lactation by the owners feeding her three 1/2 cups of 'pig chow' a day

B.) Once the babies are weaned they too are given small, controlled portions every day

It's not to say that there aren't owners that feel that regulating their pet's health is a must, and I agree because obesity is a problem in people and animals, but intentionally underfeeding animals is cruel.

The key to what I'm saying is that portion control and underfeeding are two separate things. Portion control is regulating the size of meals based on several factors...calories, carbohydrates, grams of fat, etc. Underfeeding is the act of knowingly serving something/someone (or yourself) with a portion that will at the very least not meet your need for x amount of calories per day.

I think breeding animals to drastically cut their size to make them 'domesticated and house pets' is cruel, especially with how dramatic the results are if these pigs are kept on a strict diet from day one. A 1,000 lbs sow should not be the great, great, great grandmother of 70 lbs microteacup pigs... and there are breeders that boast smaller adult weights than that!

If you are willing to do for one year what other's won't, you can spend a lifetime doing what other's cant.
