Default Longest-lasting, sweatproof foundation and powder?

Hi, i tried looking all over SW for a thread on what you think the best, longest-lasting, sweatproof foundation/concealer/powder is... currently i use mineral makeup during the day for school and stuff but it definitely doesn't make the cut during work when i am active for hours on end. i LITERALLY have to reapply it every half an hour.

i have heard that estee lauder double wear foundation is fantastic.

i was thinking about trying revlon photoready makeup or revlon colorstay makeup but haven't heard anything about either of those.

and a makeup which might be a very cheap alternative but i'm not sure about the quality of it, would be rimmel lasting finish 16 hour foundation.

by the way, i also got my breast augmentation today and i'm veryyyyyyyy very happy!!! i am in barely any pain (for now, knock on wood) and it just feels like i had an intense pec workout yesterday lol. i have full range of motion in my arms and i'm up and walking around--but i'm def not gonna push it.

what foundation do you find to be the best long lasting sweatproof makeup? even if it doesn't come from this list, obviously.

    thank you very much <3

I just read the thread about your new boobs, congrats, they look great!

I have used photo ready, it doesn't last me 4 hours at school.
I currently use the colorstay foundation because they actually have a colour that matches my skin, but it's not really long lasting. I even set it with powder to make it last longer. It's good for a day at school, but you will probably have to reapply a few times (maybe not every half hour, though).

I use Lancome's Oscillation Powerfoundation and that shit lasts all day with maybe one or two powder touchups.

I found that the powders bourjois last the best but they are expensive (about $30). I do like the revlon color stay powders and base though, but it works even better with a good primer. The best drugstore primer I have found is my L'orel.

I am a longwearing makeup junkie!

I love Estee Launder DW ~ it's medium to full coverage. I also use MAC Face and Body (light to medium coverage) and MUFE Face and Body (light to medium coverage).

But my favorite is Clarins Everlasting Foundation ~ medium, dewy coverage. However the shade range sucks for anyone much deeper than tan.

    My experience with foundations:

Illamasqa: Extremely rich, extreme full coverage, matte finish, extremely concentrated. This will make you look like mannequin, it covers EVERYTHING...discolorations, acne, fills in every pore and fine line. High performance, stays for a long time, everything you put on over it stays forever, blush, bronzer, loose powder. May not be the best for day time wear because it definitely looks a little bit caked on, unless you have a bad complexion and need to cover a lot. This is makeup artist's foundation. They only have around 6 shades, and you have to mix sometimes to get the right color. I had to purchase two, and I mix them accordingly due to how tan I am.

Revlon Colorstay: This one wins for best value. I buy the combination skin formula, and for how much it costs, it stays a long time! Also, they have a HUGE selection of different shades, and I found the PERFECT one for yellow based skin, it's called rich tan. I've used this for years, and always end up going back to it in the winter when I'm paler.

Lancome Teint Idole Ultra: thin, but well pigmented, spreads and covers really nicely. Buildable, you can layer it for more coverage and it still looks natural. Powdery matte finish, great oil control! For how light and thin it is, it's amazing how long it lasts! You just need to maybe touch up with powder a couple times, but it never settles into creases or pores, just lasts and lasts with a very soft natural finish and medium coverage. I wish they had a better shade to match my skin though.... Bobbi Brown makes a comparable formula (natural finish long lasting foundation) but the Lancome one is a MILLION times better.

Revlon Photoready: hated it. Too matte and made my skin look dull with no dimension. Looked too cakey for not enough coverage (I don't mind caking on foundation as long as it's covering everything).

MAC liquid Studio Fix: hated it. Way too oily and felt like it suffocated my skin. Also, it showed every pore on my face.

MAC Pro Longwear: It's okay. I received a sample from Nordstroms, used it a couple of times, but wasn't too impressed. It's kind of like the Lancome, but not as good.

Never tried Estee Lauder DW or Dior Forever, but have heard good things about those two, as far as long wearing foundations. I guess the most important thing would be to find a good color match between all of these. I think that a liquid foundation with a loose setting powder on top will last the longest. I use Laura Mercier loose translucent setting powder, and will never use anything else. It's the best IMO, and I've tried the MUFE HD powder and MAC blot powder, I still like this one better.

There's a whole different list for natural "looks like you're wearing nothing" foundations that I've tried as well, but these are the long lasting high performance ones.

Also Makeup Forever's Mat Velvet + Matifying Foundation is pretty decent, Id put it well after Illamsqa for coverage and staying powder but probably one point ahead of Revlon Colorstay. Buildable coverage, mattifying and seems to suck out sweat. Its oil-free but you definitely need a good face wash or makeup remover to get it all off. I had similar success with MAC's Studio Sculpt but it aggravated my acne prone skin way too quickly.

I once used Makeup Forever's Full Coverage Concealer as a foundation (was in the most ridiculous rush, had 3 shades of it, made it into a foundation), hands down the most highest coverage and foolproof "foundation" I've ever had. Im sure my skin was screaming for relief - but no bleeding, no sweating, super even (but not a daytime look). Not recommended if you have acne prone skin but my face looked like it had never seen puberty or sunlight.

I usually set the foundation with silica microspheres - Ill just buy them from CoastalScents.com or Tkbtrading.com - The one from Coastal Scents is the most fine of the two powders and is slightly more expensive but for 5 bucks you get quite a bit, and sets dermablend (for me) very well. Its the same base product as most high end translucent powders.

Its a white powder that applies translucent. If I know Ill be sweating Ill apply more and the very slight white cast will fade in about an hour.

I give this process about a B+, hoping to find the holy grail of longlasting foudnations/powder.

I'm looking to try Dior's DiorSkin ExtremeWear, but their color range isn't so great.

Definitely going to try Illamasqua. My skin is in desperate need of an extreme coverage foundation right now.

When I was trying on Illamasqa at Sephora, the second I put it on my face I was like WOW!!! One thin layer covered every single imperfection, and made my skin look like a porcelain doll. However, it's not what I would call natural, you can definitely tell you have makeup on, so it's something I wear more at night. I would compare it to MAC Airbrush foundation, the liquid in the bottle that you can only buy at the pro stores.

Would you mind sharing your list of more natural looking foundations? I'm in serious need.

I would love to try this! On Sephora's page they have one liquid foundation http://www.sephora.com/browse/brand_...ategoryId=C108 but on the brand's homepage in euro's they have a new thinner foundation it looks like. Which one do you get? Flawless skin is always a goal of mine lol.

I use the rich liquid foundation, your best bet would be to go to the sephora store, try it on, and get a sample to use for a few days before you commit to buying it, it is expensive.

I have to second Revlon Colorstay...I prefer the older SPF 6 version, it seems to have a better finish. The key is to blend it well. As for powder, haven't found one that wowed me in a translucent finish.

I use dermablend as my stripper makeup. I would not recommend it for the whole face, or for daytime wear. But as far as stripper make-up, its great to cover up any blemishes or dark undereye circles. It will last thru a whole shift, all you need to do is apply a little powder over the course of the night if you get shiny.

Dior's Diorskin Forever Nude with MAC'S Mineralize Skinfinish Natural lasts me all day, sometimes all night just with some blotting paper and a light touch of powder. But I also use Milk of Magnesia as a primer to eliminate oil and it helps my foundation last longer.

You have to try Lancome's Teint Idole Ultra. It is the longest-lasting foundation ive ever used! It keeps you matte and oil-free also. Those two revlon foundations turned completely oily on me, there was no difference between the two even though one is supposed to be long lasting. I use a MAC loose powder to set the Lancome and it lasts even longer.

I agree with Revlon Colorstay.. I have used this one for 6 years. I have tried many others but others were too thin, too cakey, wrong color, too fake looking etc. I always buy the one in the glass bottle.

Apply loose powder after you finish foundation. My face is naturally oily and the foudation would slide off due to the oil, but I found a good loose powder and it also makes my make up stay on longer and doesnt produce oil as it used to

i wear bare minerals. clinique is all right if you get the double face foundation but other than that i always end up going back to bare minerals. it just makes other make up seem like garbage and a complete waste of money as far as coverage goes/how long it lasts/etc...

What loose powder do you use? Colorstay always seems to look weird on my face by the end of the day - VERY obvious I'm wearing makeup, and VERY obvious what I'm trying to cover up.

Its called "Blended Face Powder and Brush" By clinique

I had it for 3 years now.. it lasts forever. There are two different kinds, but this one is suppose to absob oil as I just checked on their site.. I didnt know that when I bought it hah. I use "Summer Eclipse Bronzing & Shimmery Face Powder" to top it off as well.

It could be the moisturizer your using thats making you look like your wearing make-up as well. I had many foundations looks like they were cakey and put-on looking with thick, sticky, slide-off moisturizers until I tried out different kinds. My face is oily and most face moisturziers just made it worse so when I put on cover-up with powder they all looked cakey to a degree.

As well as finding a brand for you, there might be a couple other things that are affecting the staying power of your makeup!

Are you a face-toucher? You might find that you lean your chin on your hands while talking, subconsciously stroke your face, or touch your face when dancing or running your hands through your hair. Pay attention to this, and really make an effort not to touch it!

Is your skin in good condition? If you have oily or dry skin, foundation won't stay on...

Are your makeup tools clean? If you are using brushes or sponges that are caked in old makeup, foundation won't glide on smoothly and stay on..

Are you putting on the right amount? There is a point where if you put on too much, it starts to slide off - try to find the right brand for coverage, rather than putting on too much of a low-level coverage foundation.

Finally - to make foundation stay as long as possible:

    - if you are a little oily, use blotting paper regularly
    - wait a good ten minutes (if not more) after moisturizing to give it time to sink into the skin properly
    - apply foundation, then concealer, then powder
    - work your powder into the skin in circular motions - really work it into the liquid or cream to set it.
    - use a makeup primer on your skin - preferably silicone based
    - spray your face with a fixative or hair spray after to set your makeup (obviously, if you have sensitive skin, hair spray is an irritant)
I take cash, debit or credit. I just don't take shit.

i tried the revlon colorstay and found that even with the dry skin formula it was really drying and dried to fast to really blend in so i had to apply it in sections(nose first, one cheek, then other cheek, then chin, then forehead--what a pain in the balls)

then i tried the revlon photo ready makeup and i liked that a lot more. i found the coverage to be just as full but more natural looking, it blended a lot easier, didn't dry too fast, and didn't make my face feel still like the colorstay.

so for day i wear the photo ready and for work i mix the photoready and colorstay for extra lasting, sweatproof power.

I hate those powder foundations. It looks blotchy on my skin. I got that double wear by Estee Lauder..it looks like crap on me.

Someone reccomend me a good matte powder that isn't foundation. I feel like a good matte powder is hard to find these days. They're all "foundation", which I hate. Makes my skin oilier too. UGH.
