Default Vegas Vice - Here we go again

Since 10-16-09 Police have been sexually harassing women who work in strip clubs by getting dancers to take oft their clothes and do what is their job – a lapdance. The police will then issue a $1,000 ticket and or arrest her. This law says that a dancer is responsible for everything that happens to her. So if a cop or customer sexually assaults or attempts to rape her (with his fingers) she will be arrested for allowing it. Now they have passed a law which says that a dancer is not allowed to have a cell phone in her purse. How are the cops going to know if I have a cell phone in my purse? Are they going to get a blanket search warrant for everyone to search their purse without probable cause? Is that legal? How is having a cell phone a criminal offense worthy of arrest? GUILTY BY WAY OF SUSPICION. There was a prostitute who worked in a strip club she had a cell phone and she did a lapdance. Anyone who has a cell phone or does a lap dance will be arrested.
Pay the Secretary of State $200 to be licensed to take off your clothes. This is not proof of training, schooling or having passed a stripping test. If you do not pay the Secretary of State $200 because I said so you will be charged $100 for being one or two days late and subject to a fine of $2,500 for dancing without a license. How did Sheriff Gellespie manage 70% of the vote when countless citizens have complained about his fascist disregard for the bill of rights and human dignity?
    Is this still a democracy?
    Citizens Review Board 702-455-6322
And ya I have filed another complaint with the ACLU. www.aclunv.org

I have called Gloria Allreds Office who specializes in sexual harrasment and her office has referred me to Judy Perez who specializes in police corruption. Both in L.A., CA

    Democracy my Ass!

Take off your shoes. Let me search you underwear. There was a terrorist who had a bomb in his shoe and another terrorist who had a bomb in his underwear. Now everyone must submit to taking off their shoes and having their underwear searched. If you don’t, you will be arrested and issued a $10,000 fine. THIS IS FOR YOUR SAFETY?

Here is the email for the Nevada Department of Justice.
    [email protected]

I have also contacted 3 Las Vegas news stations.

No way am I going to be quiet over this! NO WAY!!!!

Do you know how much work I missed in the last year for fear of the police? And I know that I am not the only one. Arrested for having a cell phone!!!

This is so fascist and abusive and absurd that I can not justify being quiet or afraid anymore.

not wanting to rain on anybody's parade, but ... from a legal standpoint ...

The fact that Vegas already has established dancer's licensing procedures allows them to basically add any sort of additional requirements they want to as a condition of the license. In other words, instead of stripping being a 'right', from a legal standpoint it is a 'privelege' and thus subject to whatever sort of 'reasonable' conditions the licensing authority chooses to impose. In the case of cell phones, unfortunately the city can point to a body of already existing ( albeit probably bogus ) evidence used in other 'stripping' related court cases that 'stripping' has negative secondary effects on the community - including prostitution and the spreading of STD's. This allows them to make the case before any judge that the cell phone rule is 'reasonable' on the basis of reducing prostitution and transmission of STD's. And believe it or not, the existing record of ( some probably bugus ) Vegas prostitution busts can also be used to support their cell phone theory.

As is the case with many other strip club incidents, in the absence of 100% factual record of what happened during every private dance ( i.e. surveillance video showing every possible angle ), in the final analysis any bust is going to come down to the word of a ( stereotype ) lying, thieving, drug addicted whore 'stripper' against the word of a 'well-respected' local cop. In that situation busted dancers are going to 'lose' every time at the local court level. At the appellate level, serious judges will actually look at the issues you speak of, and will also seriously look at the hard evidence against you ( or lack thereof ), with a good probability that the local court conviction will be overturned and your permanent record will be erased. Unfortunately, in order to file an appeal and prove her innocence, the busted dancer probably needs to cough up a minimum of 5 grand in legal fees !!! The cops, local court, DA, etc. are ALL aware of this ... and are willing to gamble that a dancer would rather pay the $1,000 fine than plead innocent at the local level rather than risk being convicted in local court ( resulting in an even larger fine or possible jail time ).

The idea that a cop can fine a dancer if he (or she) deliberately assaults the dancer is ridiculous and I'd definitely get a damn good lawyer to defend my case if that ever happened; out of principle because cops should never be allowed such power.

Being arrested for having a cell phone on you is also a little ridiculous but you can at least prevent this by leaving your phone out of your purse. You're at work talking to customers to make money, why the hell do you need your phone on you anyways? Just leave it in your locker and check it every now and then if you're waiting for a phone call/text.

Anyone who has been put in jail or given a ticket for doing a lap dance since the October 16, 2009 law was passed you can contact channel 13 action news at:

    [email protected]
    or
    702-871-3345

If you have been afraid to work due to fear of the police call and let them know.
Let's hope that no one winds up getting arrested for this cell phone crap. The benefit of taking immediate action.
The economy is too crappy to be able to afford these fines. Plus a lot of girls have kids and pets. If you are in jail for no reason that is a huge problem.

I don't even think dancing in Vegas is worthwhile anymore. I was waiting for it to get better before I went back but it seems to be getting worse and worse.

The laws here are frightening and moronic. A cop could rape a stripper in the VIP room and then arrest her for it. I know plenty of people are going to say that would never happen but it happens to escorts in Vegas all the fucking time. Totally legal. They can fuck the shit out of an escort, arrest her, and then stand up in court and admit that they fucked her. Nobody cares and the cop gets a pat on the back for "proving" she was a dirty whore. I've seen it happen.

^^ OMG. I have heard that it's really bad like that in Houston too but they do that to strippers. That is why I keep fighting so hard against this crap. You have to stand up to bullies. There is no choice. You just have to. If you are not part of the solution you actually are part of the problem. Evil flourishes when good people stay silent. I am going to tell my story about what happened to me last January to the channel 13 news reporter. I have a few friends who had got harassed last January too and one of them quit dancing all together. The other one has not been back to dance in Vegas since. I have asked them to tell the reporter but I don't think they will. Both of them were not born in this country. It is no coincidence that they go after a lot of girls with accents because they think they won't stick up for their rights. Both of my friends have been here for many years. They don't have to worry about citizenship because they are here legally.

When I found out about this new cell phone "code" that Metro will be enforcing that is when I said enough is enough. No more fear. I will not be afraid and I will not be quiet.

I am also going to protest on the day before Thanksgiving at the airport for the National Opt Out Day. http://www.facebook.com/index.php?lh...sQ#!/optoutday
I am going to protest about the taking off the shoes thing as well as the underwear check.
I am going to wear my underwear and bra on top of my clothes and have a sign that says I WILL NOT TAKE OFF MY SHOES. I am just going to sit there because I don't have a flight. But I will not take this fascist crap anymore.

This whole country is going hard core fascist. I will not accept the governments sexually assault of strippers or every citizen who flies. One person had an underwear bomb. It makes me laugh that people all over the country have been stupid enough to take off their shoes because one person had a shoe bomb. It's ridiculous.
None of this is about safety. It is all about humiliation.

I want to be able to see what time it is with out having to be like a child and ask the manager. I want to be able to have my phone with me in case of an emergency. What if their is a major earthquake? I want to be able to call my family and let them know I am alive right away before the phone lines are tied up. It is my right to have a phone. If it is quiet and their are no customers why should I have to go to my locker? Why can't I text my friends? What if I want to show someone a picture of my cat? Why is that illegal?

I got a response email from Mike Zahara at watchdogwag.com He said that he did not find anything in the law book about the possibility of dancers being arrested for having a cell phone. I still don't know if it's a law with an NRS number or just a code. He said it could be employer intimidation-- Instead of just saying no cell phones allowed per management. That sounds odd though. Why would any club do that. I have met the attorneys for the club where I work now. One of them argued on behalf of strippers for the Nevada Superior Court. I will call the police to see what the deal is.

    This is complete bullshit!!! Wow!!!

So it is basically inviting officers to sexually assault dancers. Nice. FUCKING BULLSHIT!!!

Never mind the cell phone thing- How much young, inexperienced dancers will be sexually assaulted by a cop.

Just submit. It is for your safety. Walk to the end of the hall and bend over. Leave one shoe lace untied. Take off your shoes. You are not allowed to have a phone at work. Do your underwear meet government specifications? If not you will be arrested. Want to be a bartender? You must have the government mandated shot. Want to be a stripper? You must pay the government $200 for a license. We need your finger prints too. This is for your safety.
In the future you will obey everything I ask of you. I will require you to obey a series of humiliating and pointless commands. I will convince you that it is for your safety. You will become used to doing everything I tell you to do. Here is how it became ok for on duty cops to get lap dances.
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O8f_-dLYKCY

Are they going to start requiring people who get pulled over for suspicion of possibly not wearing a seat belt to take off their clothes and do lap dances too?
When are people going to start standing up for themselves? If only a few people out of millions stand up for themselves and others, we are in big trouble.

Vegas is starting to suck! There is still money here but its become too bullshit in my opinion... the clubs know they can treat us like shit because well there will be another 20 girls wanting my job... the cops seem to care more about busting us than going after real criminals.. and the customers have become cheap!

This scared me. This actually really really scared me. I'm in Canada and we are working towards more loving sex work laws (yaaaay!). So the way the States is going is sooooo... terrifying. Good for you for not puting up with the bullshit.

No and it never was. This is a republic.

All I have to say is this to everyone no matter what state you live in:

Get a lawyer and do not talk to cops especially if you're not under arrest. Ask them - am I under arrest? If they say "yes" then you tell them you want to speak to an attorney. Otherwise walk away or ask "We're done here then?"

Never let an attorney try and convince you to plea especially if you are innocent.

Always fight a charge. Always. To the end.

You are not a second class citizen and you have rights.
