    Default Hey Runners...?

Hello! I'm just curious how many people on here are runners? If so whats your training schedule look like? I haven't been running for too long, I had just been doing the elliptical before, but for the last few weeks Ive been running two miles (about a ten minute mile pace) then resting , then doing run 3 walk 2 intervals for another 20-30 minutes. I run (on a treadmill because it's cold as hell now. plus theres tv at the gym lol) a few times a week and I'd like to start really getting serious about it, maybe do a 5 or 10k when it warms up again in the spring? Thoughts? Thanks!

I don't have a training schedule honestly. I run till I feel like it's time to turn around (normally at about the 2-3 mile point because it's fucking cold) 3 days a week... one day I do intervals... one day I do super half-assed.

Yeah the cold suuuuucks. Thank god it hasn't started snowing yet..... How long did it take you to get up to the 4-6 mile round trip if you don't mind my asking?

I run but have been avoiding it so much because its been so nasty outside. I usually run with a buddy, so go from 3-7 miles a few days a week.

I took like... 4 year break from running. It took maybe a month and a half to get back up to 4-6 miles.

I love running! Or at least I used to until the snow started to fall.
I go every second day, about 5k. But with the snow I have to go at intervals since the snow is a little over ankle deep on the path I frequent lately. So...I guess that would be 2k walk, 3k run for the next few weeks til I get used to running in it again.

I havent been running for long. I started a couple years back, but kept falling out of the groove until this summer, when the bug bit me and now im addicted. Or at least very motivated.

eeww so much snow! lol god bless treadmills... unfortunately I know I need to go train outside since treadmills kindof make it easier but.. ugh... ANyway Im up to two miles now after about 2 weeks of running instead of doing the elliptical. So i think my new goal will be to train for a 5k at at least a 10 min mile pace then try and find a race!

Training for a race is the most motivating and satisfying in my opinion! When the Army Run was in Ottawa I started to train harder than before so that I could participate. Good times.

It's funny... one of the best runners I know does MOST of his training on the treadmill... but he also runs like 7mph on full incline. >.<
I find training outside to be a lot more effective for me.

psht showoff with his incline... lol thats kindof a good idea tho actually. I just really enjoy watching mah stories on tv while im running too. The other day I watched forest gump. it was awesome, since I dont have tv at home. Im really hoping it doesnt snow again tomorrow as Im going to go try and run (Outside. dun dun duunn) before Thanksgiving dinner. Especially since my mom is of the Paula Dean school of cooking. Butter = never enough on ANYTHING.

haha exactly. Thanksgiving was a total diet fail but ohhh soo good.. and no snow!! But am kindof demoralized as it was harder to do the same distance outside than it was inside. sigh.

I run! I'm more of a sprinter than a distance girl but I can handle a 5k or 10k fairly easily.

I just ran a 5k (not a race, it just happens to be exactly 5k in length) trail run up a mountain this morning. It felt so good! I use Map My Run to find trails/routes. It's really helpful because I'm out of town a lot.

I usually briskly walk back down after a steep trail run like that...running downhill on trails = injury for me usually.

I'm a runner. I do about 10K about 4 times a week, 5K about twice a week and take Saturdays off. I generally run home from work; on lighter days I run half way home and then catch a tram.

woo I can't wait til I can run a 5k! Im basically starting over now because life up and bitch slapped me right after thanksgiving, so that kindof threw the workout regimen out the window for a while.... ANWAY im back at it but I wish I were making faster progress in both endurance and weight loss... very frustrated!! But back to the gym I will go tonight..

Don't get frustrated, if you feel like you aren't making progress in your running or your weightloss... maybe you should post your workout schedule/diet to see if some of the pros around here can help you out. <3
