I am at work and don't have much time, but here are the results for a search on 'X-Pole', which is (I think) I recall the most popular/safe of the portable poles. Please correct me if I am wrong, pole aficionados!

All Carmen did was let them use her name, whichever company it is--she didn't design the damned thing--though of course they would like us to believe that shit, lol!

But hey if it is easily bought, and cheaper than ordering another pole and paying postage, go ahead!

Some of these threads will be more helpful than others, of course.

Do not order that pole. It is a toy. Get an xpole or a platinum stages pole. Costs more, doesn't break your ass.

Oh, I thought Carmen was associated with one of those two, my mistake. It's been a while since I read about it.

Yeah if her pole is a toy (and I don't doubt it is), the last thing you want to do is buy it, no matter how cheap it is. No amount of money saved is worth breaking bones or falling on your ass because it is a piece of shit.

I wouldn't suggest the Carmen Electra one unless you just want to spin around it. If you plan on doing any sorts of tricks you need an X-pole or lil' mynx. Both cost about 300-350 so you'd have to decide which you like more as far as installing and such.

Sometimes I get on it on mfc but I don't really do shows on it since I don't know enough tricks to make a decent show out of it. But the guys do like it.

I have the Carmen one, got it for mfc only... I don't like it. I'm pretty tiny, and I feel quite unstable on it... It might be a mental thing too, just knowing it's a big tension rod! It was 80 by bucks, and now just sits in my closet! Although my son thought it was great that mommy got him his very own fireman pole! Hahaha!

Cheap poles are nothing but a safety hazard. LOL Think of all the stripper FAIL videos that end up on youtube!! Its usually the fault of a cheap novelty pole falling over.

Its well worth it to spend the extra money for a proper stripper pole.

Depending on what kind of place you are living/doing your webcam shows, you might be able to 'Do it yourself' and save money. The most important thing is to have it secured really, really well at the top, especially. If you know anyone who has a construction background, you might be able to go this route. Or if you happen to have a big giant wooden beam across the ceiling like I do, lol. My pole cost 15$, and it's not going anywhere no matter what I do on it. The bottom is a bit loose but I know about it and can easily deal with it.

I know of one club that got their (stainless steel) poles from a muffler shop of all places! They were supposedly only 60-70$ each, but of course they had to be mounted as well. Funny thing was, though they were not as good as brass, they were a lot better for grip than all the other stainless steel poles I have tried. Maybe they were treated somehow.

I used to have the Carmen Electra "Electra-Pole" that they have in Spencer Gifts stores, but I sold it. I didn't like it due to the fact that it's a multi-piece pole (I want a ONE-PIECE pole...not a pole containing 3 or 4 bars you have to link together) and would come loose, causing me to damn near fall while on cam. When I get my own place, I'm getting a one-piece brass pole (probably Platinum Stages). I took a few pole dance classes at Tease Fitness, and they use one-piece brass poles. I liked how in the center of the room they had the spinning poles, which are the poles that make you look like you know what you're doing just cuz it spins all on its own...lol. Those are fun, though it's hard to have control of it, since it spins you around like crazy.

SavannahRose on MFC has a pole in the room she works in, and it looks real sexy when she's dancing around on cam (guys in her room post URLs to songs they'd like her to play, and she plays them and dances to them) and dancing around the pole. She's also the model that I said is ALWAYS standing up when I see her on cam (I find that impressive). I'm curious...does anyone know of other MFC models that have a pole in their room?

Anyway, when I do get a new place, I'm definitely gonna get a one-piece pole and pay to have a handyman set it up properly (I don't wanna trust myself with setting up something like that) in my bedroom. That would be awesome!

Yeah, I thought the Electra Pole was a waste of money. I just assumed it was decent because it had Carmen's name on it, but it sucks.

I would .... advise against lil mynx. Their portable poles unscrew if you spin the opposite direction, and the semi portable will slowly ruin your ceiling (that one screw opens up a massivo hole).

Hardcore poles from ATL have good portable poles too.

    Good topic

I also want to do pole camshows. The local sex store in my area have a display of Carmen Electric pole and on it they put a caution note on it telling customers to don't touch the pole over safety reasons. It don't look stable from viewing it and don't know why she's continue selling it.

Doesn't surprise me at all that the pole has such bad reviews, the Carmen Electra stripper-workout dvds are terrible too! I bought them way before I started dancing to get an idea of how to do it...and just no lol. The moves are hard to figure out and have nothing to do with actual stripping. Not to mention as a workout it's not that great at all
